The Fannie Norman Souther Scholarship is one that is exclusive to students who are recognized as being the Best Citizen of their school. Even though this scholarship has applicants who are very qualified and exceptional in all that they do, I believe that I should be awarded this scholarship. I am an extremely hardworking student who has dedicated my time to serve others, and I am determined to become a successful individual in college and beyond.
Academically, I illustrate that I am passionate about receiving an education and making the most out of what I learn in school. Throughout my high school career, I have maintained a 5.0 weighted grade point average and a 3.83 unweighted grade point average. By the time I graduate, I will have completed and excelled in a total of eleven Advanced Placement (AP) courses. My senior class rank is 15 out of 280, which means that I am in the top six percent of my class. Another characteristic of mine is that I am a part of the AP Capstone Academy at my school, which is the only school in North Carolina that has this unique program. It is a rigorous, two-year endeavor that seeks to assist and prepare high school students for college-level research through two courses specific to the Academy, AP Seminar and AP Research. These courses have given me an experience that is unlike any other student’s experience in high school, and through participating in this program, I feel as though I am fully prepared for the challenges I might face in college. My college of choice is North Carolina State University at Raleigh, in which I am already a member of its Thomas Jefferson Scholars Program. This program allows its members the opportunity to graduate with two degrees, one in the College of Agriculture and...

...e tournaments; I usually either work the concession stands or at the spectator check-ins. I have been a member of both of these organizations for three years, and they have proved to me the importance of giving back to the community.
These numerous characteristics and aspects of my life that I have discussed establish the idea that I am a strong candidate for the Fannie Norman Souther Scholarship. I would be honored and grateful to receive this scholarship, as it would ease the cost of pursuing a college education and would be explicitly used for the supplementation of my higher education. I am thankful for the opportunity to apply for this exclusive scholarship, and I feel confident that through the descriptions of my scholarship, leadership, service, and citizenship that I have at least illustrated that I am a wonderful student who has high hopes for the future.

- ... . (Abraham, S. C., 2012, p. 2.1) “Vision statement is a concise expression of where the organization would like to see itself in the next 5 or 10 years. What makes an effective vision statement rather than one that just sounds good. In order to know whether the vision has been achieved, it makes sense to use some quantitative measure in the statement. For example, it could include "become a billion-dollar company by 2017," or "be doing business in 25 countries by 2017."
