Technical I do not have a self-care plan that I follow consistently. Doing heathy activities to keep myself balanced is not a weekly activity, however I now see the value of establishing a balanced self-care plan. The term balanced refers to a plan and includes all areas of my life. Currently, my plan includes talking with family weekly to keep in touch and when I am faced with a problem. Occasionally I schedule personal time with friends to enjoy a good meal or a play. I do not have a consistent personal reflection or meditation time. I do take time to pray daily; however, lately I feel this has become a ritual, rather than a time to be empowered or to release. It seems I have fallen into bad habits, with the demands of a fulltime job, class and my practicum. My Lifestyle Behaviors quiz reviled that I do not manage my stress properly. It is said that it takes 21 days to establish a new habit, so if I can implement my new self-care plan for 21 days, there is a possibility that I can stay focused during turbulent times. It will be necessary to remind myself of the value of these actions even if they are brief encounters, they will still help me reset myself. Due to the fact that I do not have a balanced self-care plan, I may use reminders, such as personal notes in my home or set my phone alarm to remind me to do some activities. Another way to stay on track it to be accountable to family and friends.
There is no doubt that I would greatly benefit from a balanced self-care plan. Taking time to reflect on challenging situations will allow me the opportunity to identify a way to resolve the problem, rather than ignoring the problem.
