Personal Statement: Seeking Admission to Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

As far as success is concerned, a man's accepted wisdom works just the way a band-rejection filter does. It has low opposition to ambitions and ideally infinite resistance to failure. But in my perception, to be truly successful a man needs to accept and learn from failure as it is the fingerpost on the road to achievement. With this belief firmly in place, I wish to offer insight into my decision to pursue a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
In my early years, I was fascinated to learn about the observations and inventions made by the Italian renaissance polymath – Leonardo da Vinci. I often wondered how difficult it must be for someone to combine art and science, the only two factors that can make us both find and lose ourselves at the same time. This man with feverishly inventive imagination was the inspiration for my desire to pursue a career in engineering, a perfect blend of art and science.
