This dreaded question will be asked more in your senior year then you will even be able to count, and it quickly becomes frustrating when you honestly have no idea. Everyone has their dream schools, for me it happens to be Florida State, Washington State, or California State, but coming from Wyoming, the chances of that are slim to none. Money is a huge factor for everyone when you start to choose careers and colleges. It is always so much better to start at a small school to get your generals, then from there you many be able to transfer to a bigger and better school depending on your major. When in personally start looking for colleges, it is my best bet to start school somewhere cheap because majoring in medical is going to outrageously expensive. I have wanted to be in the medical field since i was in preschool. It started with wanting to be a nurse for roughly 4 years and then i decided i wanted to do something better and changed my mind to a doctor. As you start to get older though, your desires and heart starts to change a lot. For me, my heart is still in the medical field and helping people, but i don 't have the slightest clue as to where i want to be in the medical field. The good thing about choosing a field like i did, is that it is a growing and demanding field; the world is going to need workers in the medical field for a long time, if not forever. Clubs and activities truly stand out to them, it gives them a chance to see your desires and interests. I just finished volleyball season, in which i have played for the last four years of high school. I also participated in basketball and track for two of the four years. Therefore, for two years of my high school career I was a three sport athlete. Part of being able to participate in these school activities means that your grades have to meet certain standards. Our athletics go so farther than just grades though, the are very strict when it comes to bad behavior such as, ISS, OSS, drugs, alcohol, etc. The have little to no tolerance to acting out or not behaving in a manner that represents the school in a good way. So if I were to choose to participate in any of those behaviors, I would be giving up certain opportunities within my athletics. For anyone with as much love and desire for the sports i participate in, it would be easy to behave and keep my grades up. One thing thing that the athletics at Worland High School has brought to me would be friendships that will last
Clubs were a great way for me to expand my interests outside of athletics. I was involved in Key Club and FCA freshman year and I enjoyed meeting new people and making a difference in our community. I was inducted a member of NHS junior year and this was a great way to make service a priority.
Whoosh!A bed whizzed by, surrounded by about 6 medical personnel. “What’s going on?” I thought immediately with apprehension. I knew whatever was happening it was not ideal. Ensuring I was not in the way, I stood on my toes to see what demanded so much attention. To my astonishment, I saw a coin sized hot-pink little girl. She could not have been bigger than two quarters lying side by side. She was struggling! Even with all the procedures the doctors were executing to save her life, she was performing the most work.
My perseverance has prepared me for a career in medicine. The path towards becoming a physician can be long and challenging, necessitating the ability to endure. My ability to bounce back from setbacks and mistakes has solidified throughout my journey. One of the cornerstone experiences of my personal development occurred during high school. My determination led to me my graduating as valedictorian of my class, while balancing three varsity sports and several extracurricular activities. In addition, I worked on weekends to help support my family financially. This persistence resulted in scholarship awards that made higher education a possibility.
I’ve always been the type of person that truly enjoys athletics and have participated in nearly all sports offered to me. I started playing sports in elementary with club softball and basketball. As I entered my middle and high school years I was able to add the school sanctioned sports to my list of activities. This afforded me the opportunity of competing in volleyball, basketball, golf, track and softball. The camaraderie and life lessons of sports seemed invaluable to me.
Golf is a sport of confidence, honesty, and patience. It has taught me to practice these traits in my everyday life. I have more confidence in myself and I know that I will succeed. I am honest even when the truth hurts. I am patient with those around me no matter how annoyed I may be. My name is Evin Edens, and golf is my passion.
During my first semester of college I was enrolled in a freshman English class. I began to notice college was nothing like high school. In high school I could wait till last minute to complete an essay and still get an A on the paper with little to no effort. When my first college essay was due I waited till the day before to finally sit down and start writing my paper. I turned my paper in with confidence thinking I was going to get an A. We received our papers back two days later; I was stud to see I had gotten a low C on my paper.
It will encourage students to try their best to accomplish superior grades. It opens their eyes in a different perspective on behavior as well as stronger scholastic peer relationships. It gives students activities excluding school work, because teenagers generally focus their mind on unacceptable actions. Parents commonly show passion along with appreciation when their child/children play a sport. They get to have a closer relationship and be elaborate with them more often than normal. Frequently, students do not care about their reputation or acknowledge the adults’ opinions on themselves; but in my opinion, playing sports and being mostly involved with their schools presents an improved character while in school and once they graduate. I was once told that “Sports do not build character. They reveal it.” Additionally, self-esteem in high school is hard to come by, occasionally sports help! Sports cause you to interact with other people and uplift you to do better. It presents a sharpened perspective on your schoolwork, career, future, and life altogether. In some cases, playing a sport can benefit you in an enhanced form. Scholarships can be a broad opportunity for valuable players with a good education on their shoulders. As well as, college recruitment can be another option. Money is hard to come by for college and if that seems to be a struggle for a student playing a sport can help tremendously. That

I grew up in a household where education was seen as a form of self-improvement and empowerment. Being raised in rural Central California by two Filipino immigrants who had nothing more than a high school education, my family did not have an educated or intellectual history I could look up to. That is, until my mother decided to get a college education at the age of 45. I must have been in middle school at the time, before which the word “college” was never really spoken or talked about and I could honestly say I only had a vague idea of what it even was. Rather than having the traditional sit down talk with my parents about higher education, my mom clearly spoke to me through example. I distinctly remember times where I would be her study buddy, and while doing so, I found myself leisurely enjoying the pages of her science textbooks. Instead of asking her questions related to her upcoming text, I inquisitively asked juvenile questions like, “How do the genes make us?” Today I know that this is a very big and complex question that we are still trying to answer. Yet at that moment, I wanted an answer, but mother did not have the solution, nor did the textbook. That was the birth of my pursuit of scientific career.
Exposing students to extra curricular activities in general have many advantages, so lets think about what advantages are found in students participating in sports alone. Students that are involved in sports are usually kept busy enough to hopefully keep their mind busy enough to prevent them from doing things they might later regret. They also have to worry about taking care of themselves. So that shows that sports aren’t on keeping them busy on the field/court, but they are also kept busy when they are away. Some athletes may focus more on things such as how many hours of sleep they get a night, how often and effective they are stretching, what their daily water intake is, how many vitamins they need to have, and surely their mind is focused on the sport if they are preparing for a tournament or a
I 'm involved in numerous extracurricular activities that will help me achieve my goals. Additionally, I am an active member with Upstanders, a club that stands up against bullying and hate; (ASA) The African Student Association and the National Art Honor Society. All of these extra-curricular activities are preparing me for future obstacles on my collegiate
Hi, my name is Rob Geis and I am currently in grade 12. I have been at County High School for a year now; I joined at the start of 11th grade, and have thoroughly enjoyed myself here. Before I joined ASB I was studying at the Singapore American School for two years and prior to that I was at the International School of Kuala Lumpur for two years. I was born and raised here in Bombay city and grew up here.
There are many important aspects in my life that can be applied in college. Over the years, I 've learned a bountiful of life strategies. I am going to use part of those aspects to aid me with my current and upcoming college life. When I graduate college, I will be successful. When I graduate college, I will not end up stuck with a boring job, or even worse, no job. When I graduate college, I will not end up like my older sister, who is stuck at home taking care of her baby. When I graduate college, I will not be stuck. When I first started college, I was petrified as well as really anxious. I thought it would be really different compared to high school, which in some aspects it is. I was expecting a bundle of work with no time to relax or go out. Now that I 've seen a snippet of how the rest of my years will look like, I am not as concerned. I am ready to put everything I 've got into these years. I will use all the strategies I learned over the decade to help me pull through this journey. I am going to set more and more goals for myself. At the same time, I will be successful with the help of my parents who will always be by my side. I understand
Extracurricular activities can benefit students greatly through their personal lives and well being. According to Justin Coulson in his article on kidspot.com, students that are involved in extracurricular activities, such as sports or clubs, are generally healthier than those who do not participate. Extracurricular activities can help raise student’s self esteem and self awareness as stated by Joy Burgess in her article, “Extracurricular School Activities and the Benefits” at more4kids.info. Being involved allows the student to learn about the skills and talents they already have and can teach them new ones such as time management, organization, and prioritizing skills. It also allows the students to realize what they are good at or enjoy doing (Burgess). As similarly described by the College Board staff at collegeboard.org, extracurriculars can enable you to learn your personal talents, interests, ...
Growing up, my parents, they always told me keep my grades up, to never put important things aside. They said learn from them, they had my oldest sister at a young age and they were not able to graduate or go back to continue educating them self. They struggle for so long, from buying themselves clothes, to paying the mortgage. Always put school first, work on myself to have the life I want when I am older, my parents said. Saying that, I believe; all the money I am spending, sacrifices I am making, skills I am gaining, and being able to say I fulfilled my goal will be worth it in about seven years for me.
