Adding exercises into one’s daily routines can change their whole lifestyle. Many people look at exercise as being something just for people who want to lose weight or to become muscle bound, but there are a great deal of benefits that can be received from exercising regularly. Of course gaining muscle and losing fat are the two most popular reasons that usually attract people to the gym, but they make up a small part of the potential benefits that can be achieved with exercise. There are several ways in which I have benefited in my life from exercising regularly, besides just making me bigger and stronger. It has made me become more organized, helped me make better decisions, and motivated me to take on new challenges in life. When I first began to exercise, I was primarily trying to add size on to my body. At the time I only weighed about one hundred sixty pounds and I was six foot one inch. I was also eight teen and feeling that my lack of participating in school sporting events, as well as my abuse of alcohol and less than ideal food choices, had stunted my physical potential. With this new found feeling of inadequacy I set off on a journey that would change my life forever. The first thing I noticed when I began searching for ways to change my body, was that I was obviously going to have to buy weights if I wanted to look like the guys in the gym. So I set out and purchased the cheapest bench and set of weights I could find. I began to mimic exercises that I had seen people do on television or while walking past the gym. In a period of about a month I had already noticed a huge difference in the amount of weight that I could lift. Within the first year of unorganized lifting, as well as no change to my eating habits, I h... ... middle of paper ... ...of my life, such as family, school, and work. Suddenly I was easily succeeding in all these areas, where as I had always struggled with them in the past. My health was better than it had ever been before which kept me from having to make visits to see the doctor, let alone the emergency room. I also had money saved up that would have previously been spent on fast food, cigarettes, and drinks at the bar. Since then I have continued to follow through with the same level of dedication to exercising. I find myself wondering at times where I would be in life if I had never picked up that first barbell and started lifting. It has been a difficult journey and I know that it is far from over, with so many things I still have to work on. Through all the mistakes and obstacles it took to get me here, I am now living a healthy lifestyle and I owe much of it to exercising.
I honestly did not know what I was getting myself into when I first decided to enter the fitness world. Although I had seen many people getting into shape and was told what the journey was like from others, I did not know what to expect the first few months. I had never been overweight, but I was never confident or happy in my own skin. The fitness world was extremely
Four months ago in May, I began my fitness journey. Now let me be completely honest, I wasn’t a first timer at all, and I was not where near a professional. I was that person that seriously began one every new year and never ever kept to it. My thoughts were that by summer I would be fit and toned, but we all know that when summer rolled around that was not the feeling. My weight was a constant yo-yo, it ranged something like this 125, 120, 118, 122, 119, or 124. It was never the same for long. Then the worst happened in January of 2015, my ACL decided to give along with my meniscus. I then had surgery by February and no walking until April. THREE months in bed!! During February, March, and April I was at the worst time in my life, just ready
During my body transformation, I have learnt new qualities about myself and superseded my own expectations. A couple of years ago, I was overweight and had a very unhealthy lifestyle, I used to play video games for about 10 hours per day, eat junk food, and rarely leave my bedroom. My body made me sorrowful and unconfident. However, this is all changed when I entered the gym for the first time. I began going to the gym daily. Encouraged by the progress I was making, I was determined to change the way I live. As time passed on, I started to lose interest in video games and better my nutrition. I began filling my free time with interesting and useful hobbies such as programming and studying topics that arouse my intellect such as Evolutionary
After having a self-reflection of myself I realized that I wanted to be distinctive, I wanted to reconstruct the way I was living. I was tired of just the same repetitive schedule that I followed in high school. I would get up at six twenty in the morning which was the perfectly set time that I determined was necessary to complete my morning routine. I would then head to school which I went through the same repetitive schedule as the previous day. Then I would travel back home consume whatever was prepared by my mother, play some videogames for hours then tend to my my homework and finally head to bed to repeat another average day. It was until one day one of my friend invited me to go to the gym with him. He took me to the gym which was not too far away from my school and lead me to the doorway to bodybuilding. It was just after a couple of
It was my decision to discuss the various benefits of exercising because I believe that exercising has a huge difference on my quality of life. Regularly exercising boosts my energy levels and strengthens the cardiovascular system allowing me to live a more positive and productive lifestyle. The rates of obesity and overweight have drastically increased in America due to the lack of physical activity performed, thereby severely increasing unhealthy weight gain. People who are obese or overweight have also been observed to show signs of insomnia, anxiety, and depression. All of these health problems can be avoided by maintaining a physically active daily routine.
Since the dawn of humanity, exercise has been crucial for physical survival. In recent times, however, exercise is losing its significance to human survival. Some would argue that it already has lost its significance, and as exercise becomes less important, people exercise less. According to fitness.gov, only 33% of adults receive the recommended amount of physical activity each week (citation). Clearly there is a problem. However, there is still a fraction of the population that exercises diligently. Why do these people stick with it? Exercise has countless advantages that are still extremely important to our lives. So even though the need of exercise may appear to be diminishing, the practical effects should be enough to encourage people

It has brought me in contact with people that I otherwise would have never spoken to. Additionally, no value can be placed on the countless lessons it has taught me. Olympic marathon runner Meb Keflezighi states, “Like the marathon, life can sometimes be difficult, challenging, and present obstacles; however, if you believe in your dreams and never ever give up, things will turn out for the best.” To sum things up, running has taught me many lessons, and it is one of the main reasons I am the person that I am
One of the best ways in how people can improve their overall mood, keep their bones healthy and even live longer, is by being an active person. A Surgeon General's report (Anonymous,1996) addresses the finding that continuous and consistent physical activity is proven to enhance longevity and the quality of life for people of all ages. Furthermore, the report notes that although it has been recognized for years that regular physical activity can lead to substantial health benefits, 60% of American adults are not regularly active, and 25% of the adult population are not active at all. Paffenbarger (1996) states that physical fitness and exercise can reduce the risk of diseases such as heart disease, non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, some cancers, osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, and obesity. Studies also show that exercise can promote psychological well-being and reduce feelings of anxiety and depression (http://www.medgraph.com/aboutexercise.html).
