Summer vacation, and school ends for about three months, and then you have as much fun as you can, then back to school… right? Well I had to go to summer school, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Everything was going fine, I had a job after summer school, and that was going fine as well. They say that summer is supposed to be fun and exciting, and it usually is for me and my family. However in July my father started coughing up blood. My father usually doesn’t make it his top priority to go to the doctors, so he waited about four weeks until he really didn’t feel good.
When dad finally went to the doctors, they told him it was a virus of some sort. My parents really didn’t go into detail about the visit. My father then went to Cobleskill hospital to see if the doctors there ...

- Personal Narrative- Varsity Volleyball I first started playing volleyball at a very young age. I was in the seventh grade when my volleyball career started. My sister started playing in the seventh grade and I just wanted to follow her footsteps. My seventh grade year was ok because I had just started out and really didn’t know the game. There was A team and a B team, where A team was better than the B team. I tried my best to be on the A-team, but guess where I ended up, on the B team. No matter what team I was on I never gave up....   [tags: Personal Narrative]

Essay on Personal Narrative- Becoming a Good Loser

- Personal Narrative- Becoming a Good Loser During my childhood I learned a number of valuable and important lessons. Each as varied as the next. Several years ago, however, I was taught a lesson that forever altered my outlook on life. I was seven years old and I’d already proven to my two sisters that I was a force to be reckoned with. In the mood for a little fun I decided to partake in a game of Candy land. The object of the game was to make it to Candy Castle before my two worthy opponents. The game lasted for less than an hour, but I would remember it for the rest of my life....   [tags: Personal Perspective Essays]

Personal Narrative - The Day the Police Came for Me Essay example

- The Day the Police Came for Me The door opened and in walked the hated vice-principal of my high school, who walked straight up to my 3rd hour English teacher and whispered something into his ear. They both turned and looked in my direction. I stared back blankly, wondering why they were looking at me. Through an undoubtedly bad experience in high school, I learned a very valuable lesson about life, people, and events. Mr. Burton, also the "dean of discipline", asked me to take my things and come with him....   [tags: Personal Narrative]

A Lesson in History Essay

- As we take a close look at honesty in history, we are immediately faced with the fact that we do have a beginning, which is recorded and no amount of speculation or theory can take remove the fact that our knowledge of history is finite. We have what we call a fossil record to account for the history of animal and plant life. Therefore, we can call history the fossil record of man. History can be confirmed, authenticated and deemed acceptable when we find and/or present proof. Our proof is in the integrity of the authors....   [tags: Religion]

Learning How to Cook Rice-Personal Narrative Essay

- Learning How to Cook Rice-Personal Narrative During my Duke of Edinburgh Training weekend spent at Tow Ford training centre I learned a great many skills that will stay with me for the rest of my life. However, the most valuable lesson I learned from this weekend was how not to cook rice....   [tags: Papers]

Essay about Narrative vs. Descriptive Writing

- Narrative vs. Descriptive There are many different types of writing styles that are used in everyday literature; in books and magazine articles, scholarly and academic journals. According to Essentials of College Writing, by C. M. Connell & K. Sole (2013), descriptive writing is “defined by painting pictures with words” (chapter 6.4, line 1), while narrative writing is described as “storytelling from the point of view of the narrator” (chapter 6.3, line 1). Narrative writing is more appealing considering the reader is drawn into the worlds created by the storyteller; since narrative writing has a plot descriptive writing has no time elements or chronological order to the writing....   [tags: composition, storytelling]

At the time of war, films were employed with diverse objectives for example to urge the public to support the war, to narrate the latest events, or to rebuild the image of the heroes....   [tags: World War II, Film, United States]

Essay on Personal Narrative- A Lesson in Culture Shock

- Personal Narrative- A Lesson in Culture Shock “ You want to be the same as American girls on the outside.” (Tan, Amy) Like Tan in her narrative “Fish Cheeks”, everyone has had a time in their lives when they wanted to fit in at school or home. Sometimes it is hard to try to blend into the surroundings. Moving from Boston to Tallahassee has taught me a lot about such things like honor, pride, and self-reliance. Such is related to us in Wilfred Owens’s “Dulce et Decorum est” which is about his experience in World War I....   [tags: Personal Perspective]
