“The secret to modern life is finding the measure in time management. I have two kids, career and I travel, and I don 't think my life is any different than most couples. The most valuable commodity now for many people is time and how to parcel that out”- Hugh Jackman. Living your personal idea of the American Dream takes effort but is attainable. Being a full-time parent/wife, student, and employee does not require super-hero abilities, but it does demand focus and dedication. Each person on the face of the planet is allotted the same 1,440 minutes in a day, the ability to exercise self-control when deciding what takes priority, and the right to choose not just to survive each busy day but to live it. I have work, school, kids, a house, a husband, 3 dogs, a cat, a fish, and a to-do list a mile long, but just like everyone; I only have 24 hours each day to balance it all. The most obvious solution, which tends to be the most difficult, would be to ask for help. Realize now that you are just one person and if you have the ability to utilize a support system, take advantage of it sooner rather than later! I initially felt that admitting I needed help would deem me a less capable parent, but I have come to realize from an eye opening article that, “The capable person uses all resources available to them.” (Stauffer & Bryer 2015) My level of stress and anxiety for outstanding tasks has decreased dramatically by taking advantage of a grandma who is happy to take her grandchildren to swimming and piano lessons, a bi-weekly housekeeper, and a husband who willingly took over the role of laundry
