Personal Experience in a Christian Fraternity in Pennsylvania

Instead of enlisting I went to a Christian fraternity in Pennsylvania. I still have a picture that shows me among my brothers. We were all the same height, and had the same uniform. I joined the Fraternity in 2005 and returned in 2007. By the time I returned home all the greetings of heroes had finished. I came home much too late. So many boys from my town went to war an came back to a welcome that was carefully arranged. I know people thought it was ridiculous that I had returned so much later than the others. My town heard so many stories of blood and fury that I had to lie. I had to lie to be listened to by anyone. My lies were very petty. I attributed things other men saw or did or even heard and said them as facts about myself however they didn't bring much emotion. These people heard stories of soldiers being chained to walls and shot down one after the other. They heard of sweaty faces covered in dirt pushing through the current. And they heard stories of men laying in water with their heads between their knees. Sometimes I would be nauseous from all my untrue exaggerations...
