An individual must combine the personal, organizational, and cultural values and ethics that they have learned in life to be able to succeed in a global setting.
Values have been subdivided into instrumental values (modes of behavior) and terminal ones (values pursued for their own sake). Whereas terminal values are self-sufficient, and desired states of existence that a person strives to achieve (i.e., wisdom, a comfortable life, knowledge), instrumental values are modes of behaviors used day to day that help people to reach terminal values (i.e., being helpful). Personal ethics/values, tend to guide us as we walk and communicate in the world daily. People often ask what ethics are. There is no one definition. Every society and culture has a different way of interpreting and defining ethics; ethics is the development, understanding, and application by the way their own culture does things or the society norms. According to the Webster's Dictionary, ethics is defined as the discipline dealing with what is good and bad and with moral duty. I see ethics as the set of rules of conduct that reflects the character and the sentiments of the community. Ethics help us establish standards of honesty, loyalty, and fairness. Expressing one's personal take on ethics and life may not always be understood in the context of the world at large. There are four parts that contribute to an individual's ethics: cognitive development, work ethic, personality and emotion. Cognitive development refers to how a person thinks, perceives, and gains an understanding of his or her world through the interaction and influence of hereditary and academic aspects. The word “Ethics” has its root in the Greek word ‘ethos’, which means character, spirit and attitude of a group of people or culture. Ethics is defined in the Concise Oxford Dictionary as: a system of moral principles, by which human actions may be judged good or bad or right or wrong, and the rules of conduct recognized in respect of a particular class of human actions.
Ethics refers to a system of moral standards that guide the decision for human conduct of what is right and wrong based on everyday life situations, usually in terms rights, obligations, benefits, fairness, or virtue. Ethics is used as a formal guideline for conducting business in order to minimize pain to the greater number of people as a whole. The principles of ethics come from the knowledge and understanding of the word of God, the Bible. It tells us how we ought to think and behave toward one another considering first, how we want to be treated. For instance, we have the right to freedom of speech as long as we don’t insult the integrity of others. In addition, God gives us examples for how make right decisions and warns of those to avoid. Knowing this, that if we have love in our hearts first, for our heavenly father then we’ll have compassion for our fellow mankind to behave ethically.
Ethics is the standard that are set by a person or organizations based from their beliefs, the values they hold, moral rules they have that helps them make the right or wrong decision, how to act when confronted with a moral dilemma. Setting an ethical standard and a set of rules is critical to having healthy employees, customers, and ultimately a healthy organization.
Ethics are the fundamental basis of human behavior. They dictate the nature of human interactions and actions in various spheres of life. Some ethical guides are prescriptive on how people should act while others are based on specific situations. While they generally remain unwritten societal morals and values, people are always exposed to learning their societal ethics that dictate the nature of human actions through socialization in various social places.
What is ethics? Is ethics an ability that grows in us from a child or does our parents teaches us ethics? According to dictionary.com, states that the word ethics means, "the code of good conducts for an individual or group." Ethics also means, simply stated, that ethics refers to standards of behavior that tell us how human beings ought to act in the many situations in which they find themselves-as friends, parents, children, citizens, businesspeople, teachers, professionals, and so on. There are many characteristics of ethics. There are good and bad ethics. But when sociologist Raymond Baumhart ask business people "What does ethics means to you?" According to him, the replies he received were: "ethics has to do with whether their feelings tell them what's right or wrong, Ethics has to do with their religious beliefs, being ethical is doing what the law requires, Ethics consists of the standards of behavior our society accepts, and I don't know what the word means." (Wallace, 1985) All of those could be true, but the word "ethics" is hard to define and many views are quite shaky. If at a young age you find your daughter is stealing from the corner store, do you tell her that it is not ethical. Do you teach her that stealing is wrong? But is that ethical? So the question still remains, "What is ethics?"
Ethics are the set beliefs and values of an individual which they apply to circumstances relating to morality. To act in an ‘ethical’ manner, an individual must display integrity by doing what they believe to be right.
A person’s ethics can be seen in their everyday life. Ethics are the morals someone lives their life by. Merriam-Webster defines ethic as “rules of behavior based on ideas about what is morally good and bad.” The ethics that someone shows helps describe their personal character and refer to the way that person acts in personal and socials relationships.
Ethics are influence from many demographics which include family influences, peer influences, past experiences, religion, and situations. People decide whether something is ethical and whether or not it is right or wrong based on these influences. Individuals decide whether something is ethical or unethical based on family influences because people absorb about the ethical status or something family members based on how our families act. Also individuals also conduct their decisions based on peer influences because classmates and friends that surround us, usually impact a person’s believes on what is right or wrong overtime. Furthermore, people also resolve to their decisions on whether something is right or wrong established on past experiences because they predict their benefits on demographics that had happened to them in the past. Additionally, people select some decisions based on religion because a person’s religious beliefs will usually inspire he or she on what is right or wrong. Finally, another way people base their ethical decisions is based on the situations they are in because people sometimes change their beliefs depending on the circumstances they are in.
Ethic, how we define them? We can describe ethics as a set of moral principles or values. Laws and set of legal regulations, religious guidelines also the ethical codes for professional and industry groups are the examples of the values and moral principles that are implemented into our lives.

Personal, organizational, and cultural values are the basis of an individual's personal and professional decision-making style. These values are the key ingredients that make up our core beliefs. Values are ideas that are actions which could be right or wrong, good or bad that are the basis of human action (Tosi 2000). Personal values might also be called morality, since they reflect general expectations of any person in any society, acting in any capacity. These are the principles we try to instill in our children, and expect of one another without needing to articulate the expectation or formalize the process in any way. Family is the first school for a child where the seeds of cultural values are sown (Jain para 6). Cultural values are the beliefs of a human group that one can identify. Cultural value is the newest terminology which is used in literature on international relationships and economics. Individuals acting in an organization take on an additional burden of ethical responsibility. For example, organizations have codes of ethics that prescribe required behavior within the context of a professional practice such as medicine, law, accounting, or engineering. These written codes provide rules of conduct and standards of behavior based on the principles of Professional Ethics (Colero para15).

Ethics is a system of moral principles and a branch of philosophy which defines what is acceptable for both individuals and society. It is a philosophy that covers a whole range of things that have an importance in everyday situations. Ethics are vital in everyones lives, it includes human values, and how to have a good life, our rights and responsibilities, moral decisions what is right and wrong, good and bad. These consist of; God and Religion, human conscience, the example of good human beings and a huge desire for the best for people in each unique situation, and political power (BBC, 2013).
Personal values are generally things that one believes in and are of great importance in ones’ life and endeavors. They describe an individual and vary from person to person as well as circumstances to circumstances because they change overtime. For instance one whom beliefs in hard work for success, self-reliance. Every individual has a core set of values regardless whether one is aware of them or not. It is vital to acknowledge ones values for they help in making the decision on how to live one’s life, values and decision-making. For total commitment to values, energy is required to implement and maintain values and results are success, happiness, and achievement. Main aim is to highlight various good values and to illustrate how they work in our daily living.
