When it comes to management and leadership within any organization, there are fundamental components to consider, of which, managers of all backgrounds embody. One way to briefly assess these foundations is through Personal Assessment of Management Skills (PAMS), allowing examination of skill competencies from a number of strengths and weaknesses that can be brought to attention. This analysis will briefly discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the PAMS examination results and analyze the skill competencies and how they impact the role as an ethical leader. For the purpose of this examination, strengths will be assumed to be topics where the quality is in abundance. This comes with the assumption that while their importance may not be mentioned in detail, they are still essential to leaders. Completing the examination and discussion will be a final summary and conclusion.
Self-awareness is the pillars of managerial capabilities that predict managerial effectiveness and leadership success and this PAMS analysis reveals an assortment of perceived strengths. A Harvard Business Review article (Rosh & Offermann, 2013) states that the first step to being an effective and authentic leader is to build a foundation of self-knowledge. A better understanding of these strengths will unfold, as feedback is received from the individuals tasked with the PAMS assessment. While many aspects of business move slower than others, none of them are equated with stagnant states of being. By utilizing the PAMS assessment, current strengths and weaknesses were drawn out upon which a discussion ensued. Following the analysis, a variety remedies that may aid in the reduction of their ill-effects were suggested. Through the examination provided in the former, a foundation of growth and change may begin to develop, upon which individual managerial and leadership skills may propagate.
