I am always excited to see a professional dance company perform for an audience of people who are appreciative of dance as an art form. There was almost a buzz in the air with excitement to see the company perform, which made waiting for the performance to begin so much more difficult. The works presented by the company displayed the beauties of nature through the imitation of animals and displaying the emotions that are evoked by nature. The first section they performed was an animal influenced piece entitled Biophony. The dance had many parts to it, moving the dancers to different places around the world. The dancers started onstage together as a hoard of animals from around the world, each dancer following the physicality and personality traits of the animal they portray. I was thoroughly awestruck by the dancers and their beautiful technique. They had great placement and used the floor as a tool to make it seem as if they were floating across the stage like there was nothing to it. Aside from this aspect, I really did enjoy the music and how well it played into the theme of the dance, as well as how the dancers reacted to it. The costumes aired on the side of looking like evening party attire, they almost had this hint of the 1930s or so about them. One thing that I did not necessarily like about the costumes was that some of the women were wearing dresses or skirt and two were in shorts. I know that it was to change it up and since several of the men had skirts on it might have been a bit much, but I it didn’t really add anything to the
