Human Resources Conflict
In this section I will be identifying possible areas of conflict
between the various human resources functions in Southgate College.
The human resources functions are: Selection
Recruitment and Training
In Southgate College the recruitment process for teaching staff can
take a long time there are several reasons for this:
1.Some skills are in very short supply such as electrical
instillation, plumbing and construction and also motor vehicle
maintenance. This is because these skills earn far more money in the
labour market than if people with these skills be paid if they came to
work at Southgate College as a teacher.
2.Owners of these skills would be expected like all teachers in
further education, to undergo 2 years training part time for the
certificate of education, which is a government requirement. But many
plumbers and electricians are already well qualified and resent the
fact that they have to do another period of training 1 day a week for
a job in which they earn far less money than if they stayed as
plumbers and electricians without the qualifications. So it will be
better for the plumbers and the electricians to carry on doing there
own jobs rather than becoming a teacher. This is the reason why these
courses are hard to come by. So as this shows the rapid decrease in
staffing in these occupations has lowered the amount of teachers to
teach these courses. This has now forced many colleges to stop these
courses as there is better money for them in their own profession
rather than teaching it. The main problem with this is that all the
staff have to undergo the 2-year training course for the CoE this is a
waste of time and effort for this type of job. They already know how
to teach their profession so this leads them not to teach and stay
where they are.
If Southgate College chooses not to train its workforce it will be
faced with additional recruitment costs. This is because when
skills are required existing employees will have to be made redundant.
The importance of Training and Development at Southgate College is
that If they neglect and do not train the staff it you will be
caught out in the end either by staff leaving due to low moral;
Southgate college may not perform at its peak because staff may not
know how to use equipment properly or are not sure what the correct
procedure is or your business falls behind because either you or your
staff have not been given the opportunity to update their skills or
knowledge within the college.
Recruitment and Appraisals
Whether children of Mexican immigrants adopt pan-ethnic terms (Latino, Hispanic), American identities, or identities rooted in their home country (Mexican) reflects how they view themselves in relation to the ethnic stratification system in the United States (Tovar, Jessica, and Cynthia Feliciano, 2009). Biculturalism may be expressed using a Mexican-American self-label, as opposed to either an American or Mexican label (Rumbaut, 1994). For those who are viewed as non-white in the United States (including most recent immigrants from Mexico and their children), ethnic identity development is an important part of overall adolescent identity formation, and may be especially complicated for those who grow up in the United States, but have parents from another country (Rumbaut,
Jay Gatsby was a wealthy businessman who gained his money through the illegal practice of bootlegging. Gatsby’s love interest, Daisy Buchanan, was a materialistic woman who was married to the domineering Tom Buchanan. She seemed to care for nothing more than money. Gatsby was in love with Daisy, and went to all lengths to win her over. Gatsby’s only motivation for obtaining all of the money that he did was to become appealing to Daisy. Since Daisy was married, the idea of love between Gatsby and Daisy was forbidden. This very concept made the relationship all the more desirable. Gatsby becomes obsessed with his relationship with Daisy to the point that he was delusional. His only objective was to win Daisy back.
“I am a first generation immigrant and a woman, but I don't really write about that because I feel like I'm a human being. There are universal human experiences.” (“Evelyn Rodriguez”). As a first generation woman myself, I can relate to the notion that I am more than my background. While there are universal experiences people go through, my cultural experience is something that sets me apart from others. I believe that it is essential for me to find the balance between assimilating into American culture while keeping my cultural identity.
Renewable energy includes: solar, wind, geothermal, bioenergy, hydropower, ocean energy, hydrogen/fuel cells, and green power. Non-renewable energy is known for, crude oil, natural gas, coal, and uranium. Renewable energy is widely known for being great for the environment and helps save the earth. Although, we do use non-renewable energies more then we should.
Currently “first and second generation immigrant children are the fastest growing segment of the U.S population, and there are currently 40 million immigrants living in the United States.” (Stephenson, 2008) According to Sirin, Ryce, Gupta authors of The Role of Acculturative Stress of Mental Health Symptoms for Immigrant Adolescents: A longitudinal Study; a first generation immigrant is someone who was born in another country and then moved to a host country, while a second generation immigrant is someone who was born in the host country but has at least one parent who was born abroad (2013). The goal of this paper is to look at the mental health of second generation immigrants, and how (or if) cultural identity, acculturation, undocumented vs documented status of parents, education and language barriers protect or negatively affect the mental health of this growing popul...
Then in Arkansas an experiment was initiated which tied school funding to student test scorings. This was experimented in 18 cities. There was an increase in the results but they encountered problems as, disorganization, scandals and lack of knowledge.
Automotive industry is rapidly growing. Approximately one in ten jobs in industrialized countries are the jobs related to automobile. For developing countries, they evaluate the condition of local automotive sector for grasping the economic growth opportunities because the auto sector has the wide linkages with the other sector of their economy (Encyclopedia, 1997). Then, this industry makes 60 million cars and trucks per year worldwide. Therefore, it can support jobs for 4 million people directly and many others are indirectly (Papatheodorou et al., 2007). Due to the above factors, the automotive industry was firstly selected to study. Specifically, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd was selected because it was sixth largest automobile company around the world in 2013 (Nissan, 2016).
The automobile industry is one of the key drivers that boosts the economic growth of the country. Since the de-licensing of the sector in 1991 and the subsequent opening up of 100 percent FDI through automatic route, Indian automobile sector is towards its boom. Today, almost every global auto major has set up facilities in the country. The automotive industry in India is one of the largest automotive markets in the world. It was previously one of the fastest growing markets globally, but it is currently experiencing flat or negative growth rates. The automobile industry accounts for 22 per cent of the country's manufacturing gross domestic product (GDP).Sales of commercial vehicles in India grew 5.3 per cent to 52,481 units
The automotive sector is a key industry in the Malaysian economy. The economic contribution of this sector is immense, with significant linkages to the manufacturing and services sectors. The automotive sector began with importation of vehicles which then progressed to assembly operations and the establishment of a wide network of automotive components and parts manufacturers. (Malaysia Automotive Association, 2005)

Only after this, automobile industry has shown a faster growth. It was growing must faster but now in the year 2013-2014 it has shown a negative growth in India. Major reasons for the decline in the automobile industry is because of high inflation rate, rise in interest rate and fuel price. All automobile segments except two-wheeler vehicle are declining. From 2015 growth of automobile industry is expected to
The Indian auto industry is one of the largest in the world. The industry accounts for 7.1 per cent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The Two Wheelers segment with 81 per cent market share is the leader of the Indian Automobile market owing to a growing middle class and a young population. According to our textbook Human Resource Management (HRM) is the policies, practices, and systems that influence employees’ behavior, attitudes, and performance. “The human resources management process involves planning for, attracting, developing, and retaining employees as the HRM planning provides the rights kinds of people, in the right quantity, with the right skills, at the right time (Lussier, 2012, p. 240).” According to our textbook the typical responsibilities of the Human Resources department fall into three categories, and they are administrative services and transaction, which handle hiring employees. The second involves business partner services that focus on attracting, evolving, retaining employees by having a clear understanding

The role of today’s Human Resource Manager (HRM) is much more involved than in the past. Human Resources (HR) has ordinarily been referred to as Personnel. Formerly, the manager in this field, whether it was referred to Personnel or HR, held a narrow margin of responsibilities. Today’s HRM has the unique role of looking out for the interests of both the employee and employer. Technology, globalization and outsourcing have added a challenging twist to HRM responsibilities. Adding further to this unique challenge is the fact that many industrial and skilled labor workers as well as professionals and others belong to labor unions.
