Ronald Reagan once quoted that, “Peace is not absence of conflict, and it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means”. Conflict is defined as a fight, battle, or struggle, especially a prolonged struggle; strife. Every one contains an external and internal antagonist. The biggest conflict I have is trying to find trying to please the world while losing the battle of pleasing myself. I admit that I haven’t had gigantic hardship wars but I have had my own mental and emotional battles that I go through every day. The whole ‘perfect image’ is quietly impossible to reach and impeccable to trying to go against all odds to receive. My story is based on those impeccable moments that most people would have not believe in based on my appearances. I was raised to never dress up on how you struggle at home. My grandmother even mention to “always dress as if you were meeting your husband for the first time”. To better understand my obstacles is probably bets to start from the beginning. When I was little, both of my parents were usually gone and left me with my grandparents of my aunts and uncles, who weren’t blood, but a close family-friend. She was the first to graduate from college, academy of the finance department, and she is only one of the two teachers in Texas who has students do taxes. My mom is like a supermom and super teacher. I always hate and drag bothering her only because she sacrifice so much like everyone else, both of my parents do. My dad as a police officer gave me the strength to speak my mind concerning the police brutality and open my mind to a different perspective. I’ve always had to learn how to speak up for what I believe because not everyone believe a short-small African American woman has something worthy to speak.
