In the world, many people are sad and depressed and just don’t feel the need to do anything at all other than sulk and wish they were dead, this is not the way someone should live there should be some way to take someone out of this depressive state or to keep someone from ever reaching it but what? The answer is organized sports and their ability to kick start hormones in the body and allow for a new sense of happiness within the body. To find out to what level a participates level of depression are and see if it effects all participates with different levels of depression or only participates of low levels of depression and we will look at this using the beck depression scale. This is important because it will help to bring about a new way to keep a many of people away from being depressed because we know that the use of physical activity is needed to keep the depression rates in people to a very low minimum. Purpose of the Study The purpose of my study to find out if participating in sports helps to reduce the levels of depression in college students. I am hoping to find out if there is a relationship between playing a sport and controlled levels of depression in college students, so that depression can be controlled and monitored in a different way. This will lead up to the need for physical activity needed throughout grade school years in all schools in hopes to keep depression to a minimum no matter what age or demographics. People should care about this topic because I will keep the harmless taking of one’s life to an extreme low because no one is experiencing depression like they were before because they were active in sports to keep depression levels low and will ultimately know how to control depression and keep it ... ... middle of paper ... ...many schools ideas of taking out physical education in school and instead trying to increase it and make sure that it is in every school so that children do not experience depression in their lives and are instead happier for it. Conclusion I wish to perform this study to try and find out a way to reduce levels of depression in individuals and I chose to look at athletes for the fact they are rarely thought of to be depressed in from what they do and I wanted to see if there is a relationship between the two.
