In this COMM3002 Communication Studies project video clip, we are going to take the tactics of parody and comedy as the genres of our video clip to mock the TV show nowadays are too resemble and without quality guarantee to general public. This is a satirical story which mocks the entertainment industry of Hong Kong nowadays, all the artists are double-sided faces, in front of the camera, we act nicely; however, once they off the camera, they exposed their own personality in a panoramic view, and to reveal the true selves of entertainers behind the camera, in order to remind those who desire to be a star and work in the entertainment industry that the reality of this industry is not as glamorous as it appears.
The story is about a famous Hong Kong chef with under par cooking skills and intellect hosts a cooking show on TV, but as conflicts quickly arise between her and her guest, her true colors end up being revealed by her young and inexperienced guest.
Our project synopsis is Cat is a famous hostess in Hong Kong and she hosts her own cooking show on TV. For this week’s episode, she invites the up-and-coming singer, Karmen, as her guest. Along with Cat’s personal assistant, the three of them make their way to the local market in search for fresh ingredients to cook a “delicious” dish. Cat then reveals that she is preparing a special kind of tempura, one of which its recipe has been long lost – orange peel tempura. As they are preparing the dish, Karmen notices that Cat is constantly rude and inconsiderate towards her assistant, not to mention she cooks terribly. Along with the well-developed technologies, we intended to film a parody to mock the TV shows that are manufacture in a rough and slipshod way; their facial expression, body gesture and even the speech are almost the same. So in this video portrait, we think that it is a need to stand out to do something for our society. We no longer want to receive useless information every day, so we want to film Cat’s kitchen to arouse people’s attention about this eager issue. Although our target audiences are only classmates, but as we gained the experience of how to film a video, we might keep on filming others social issues and uploaded to YouTube; try to gain the attention of the general public.
