When doing an event we need to make sure we implement the six P’s of marketing which are: Product, price, place, people, promotion and positioning. When these are use together they can make your event successful. However, if we were to omit any of one of them something would be missing; thus, the event may go good it wouldn’t be great. I will talk about each one of the P’s, why it is important and how it helps the other p’s in making for success.
The first P is product. You must have a great product this is something you offer; a service, a product or even people. It is what you want to draw people’s attention to. Product “The Product should fit the task consumers want it for, it should work and it should be what the consumers are expecting to get” (Marketing Theories, n.d.). If your event is a wedding the product would be the bride and groom; however, if you are hosting a car event than the product would be the cars. It is pretty simple; you are basically providing the people with what they are looking for.
Second P is price. You want to make sure you have the pricing correct; thus, you need to do your research and find the right price to fit the product you are offering. If you are selling something find out what the item would cost to produce, include packing and marketing costs as well. You need to make sure you have included in what your time is worth to market, produce and sell the item. Nevertheless, if you are hosting a wedding you need to include everything from venue, catering, beverage, decorations, and cake; as well as your time. In summary, to host a successful event we must be able to market and produce a product that the people are interested in and all them to have access to the product at an affordable price. The people are what will make or break your product. People need to be interested to buy your product or attend your event. Making sure you have the right place for people to gather, something that fits the needs whether it is a large car show you’re hosting or an intimate wedding the space must fit the needs of the product. Promoting is one of the most important keys to making sure you are successful. By promoting your product or service to the correct audience will allow you to gain the most valuable position to make your product or service successful.
