Overpopulation is an issue that majority in the world may never face, however, the ones that do experience this issue know the struggles that it can pose to the overall quality of life. There are multiple reasons on why overpopulation is an issue and why it can affect quality of life, but ones that have a major impact on the world is the shortage of food, overconsumption of fossil fuels, and decline in health care. These specific issues were selected as a result of the widespread availability of information. With over seven billion people on the earth, there are numerous areas that deal with overpopulation, but to classify an area as overpopulated we must first establish what overpopulation actually means. Food shortages are one of the major killers of populations and are something that we as humans deal with on the daily basis. Large populations have a large hindrance on the food we eat. The food has the potential to run scarce within our storages due to a higher demand in which our food systems cannot meet. As a result, our society will contemplate solutions to meet this speculated crisis. The solution formulated can either target the large populations, or the food systems. The earth is struggling everyday with a rapidly growing population. The approximation of growth is roughly two hundred thousand a day. This means that an increasing number of people are depending on the earth to produce food for their meals and this is a major issue. As a uniform society we are already struggling to depend on the earth for our food and a majority of our food that we eat is not all natural grown. The process of growing and harvesting all natural food is an expensive task and therefore will not always happen. With multiple nations living in poverty the dependence on processed and inexpensive food has become necessary. When it comes to fixing overpopulation, the solution is simple enough to say the least. Money is the answer. To put it in better terms, taxes or rather tax exemptions. Throughout history, people have hated taxes and making people pay less taxes is something all cultures have common ground with. An effective way to slowly but surely make progress at combating overpopulation is for “government of various countries might have to come with various policies related to tax exemptions to curb overpopulation. One of them might be to waive of certain part of income tax or lowering rates of income tax for those married couples who have single or two children. As we humans are more inclined towards money, this may produce some positive results”(Conserve Energy Future). Most proposals associated with this idea suggest ending tax incentives for families having more than two children.
