Overpopulation and Over- Consumption in India

Currently, the population of India is at a formidable amount of 1.27 billion and estimated to have 1.6 billion people by 2050. What will happen if countries like India keep growing? This issue is known as overpopulation. Overpopulation has become a very prevalent topic in the last ten years and if not controlled, it could affect all countries on earth. Although overpopulation appears to be an insuppressible issue, there are some different ideas and methods that have been used to help this problem.
There are a plethora of factors that contribute to the exponential growth in the population in the last fifty years. The primary reason of this growth is the result of better living standards over the years. The advancement of technology has improved the medical field, which has resulted in the discovery of new cures for diseases, people being less susceptible to diseases, and overall people living longer. Secondly, there have been fewer wars than in past, which has cause precipitous decline in deaths and greater tranquility in humanity. Another factor that contributes to overpopulation is the mindset that a family must have a boy to carry one the family name. Many countries, especially less developed ones, prioritize males over females because of this reason. Lastly, unwanted pregnancy contributes to overpopulation because of the overall lack of knowledge about sexual relations and birth control in most societies.
Consequentially, overpopulation has many negative effects. Most of the critical environmental issues today are a result of over-consumption, which coincides and is caused from overpopulation. Although the people of Andra Pradesh don’t seemed to be forced to have the operations done, there have been reports of people being rounded up and neutered against their will. Countries have many different methods of population control, but the question is- “Are these methods violating human rights and destroying moral values?”
In conclusion, overpopulation is contentious issue that today’s generation is struggling with. Today’s world is consumed economic and environmental issues and it fells like the earth is falling apart right in front our faces. The true solution to all of these issues, including overpopulation, is faith in Christ. If all countries had faith in Christ, there would be equality between all nations, less poverty, abstinence before marriage, less violence, less wars, and true happiness.
