Woodco Millwork has grown fast in the past year, making it obvious that clear direction and purpose needs communicated to move the business forward on the right track. It is also clear that to continue the upward trend that the staff needs to be empowered to achieve long-term results. The purpose of this report is to outline a professional foundation that will plan the goals of the company, how they can be implemented and the results it will produce.

Introduction:

“A well designed Professional Foundations is made up of three independent components: mission, vision and values” (UBT). A mission statement is the reason that Woodco is in business, “when a business has a strong mission, it also provides its employees with a purpose beyond just doing the minimum amount and quality of work necessary to collect a pay check.” (UBT). The vision statement is the owner’s long-term dream or goal for the business. “A vision is the result of a well-executed mission” (UBT). The values are the guiding principles that set out the way the company operates in view of reaching the vision. When the three individual components are put together and executed, it creates a very strong blueprint for every aspect and decision that the company makes.

The mission of Woodco Millwork, Ltd is to provide our customers with a large resource of exceptional lumber and wood products from new and old growth material that will amply fulfill their expectations and in doing so spread enjoyment and prosperity to all who work with us, our families and our friends.

...The mission, vision and values that are printed in this report are a result of team members input. After collaborating with employees at all levels in the organization including senior managers these statements were written including as many points of view as seemed possible. When interviewing staff it was apparent that they felt there was a lack of direction in the company. Many had little or no prior recollection of previous mission, vision and value statement. The team responded positively to generating a strong professional foundation, and is recommending this for immediate implementation.
