Organizational Business studies the behavior of individuals as well as teams and how they work and relate to one another in order to accomplish a goal (Robbins & Judge, 2009). One resource that can help aid in this study is through the use of personality tests. Original research that began in the early 1900s by Carl Jung and later expanded by Katharine Briggs and Isabel Meyers, provide testing that can help determine individual inborn personality characteristics. Used by many businesses today to support such functions as Human Resource Departments, department managers, as well as training programs to name a few, knowing a person’s four letter personality type is beneficial in hiring and job placement. Individuals can also use this information to help define their career path or point them in a direction to be more successful in their work environment. Personality preferences include a determination from each pair of traits: Extravert or Introvert, Sensor or Intuitive, Thinker or Feeler and Judger or Perceiver (“The Personality Page”, 2015). Combinations from these eight traits make up 16 different personality types. Understanding your personality type, is the beginning process for increased self-awareness, as well as an avenue for understanding, working, and living with other people and how to have more productive relationships at work and at home. Understanding your own personality is ground zero for improving how you communicate and interact with others. God made man in his own image, but He also supplied us with our own unique personalities. Are we using our unique gifts to glorify God in our personal, as well as our business lives? As discussed by Fisher (2012), “our personal behavior in organizations has eternal consequences” (slide 8). Fischer (2012) also espouses God’s covenant with man and the freedom given us to make our own choices. For those of us who draw our energy from the world around us, the essential wisdom from Romans 12:2 applies; “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”
