Our first area of focus when it comes to organizational processes should be in how we will interact with the diverse population on Kava. Some of these areas can be through local shelters established to aid in disaster recovery but more important to gain recognition and trust of the locals. Because a large portion of the population is under the age of 15 then a program centered around education and athletics programs will help increase the recognition across the whole island of Kava. When children get involved in safe healthy activities and our organization is at the vanguard sponsoring them the rest of the population will here of how good the company is from their children.
Our second area of focus should be on the building of alliances with local, state, and national government along with vender organizations that can provide us with local resources as to reduce the amount of importing goods from the states. Building key relationships and communication channels now will open doors and reduce red tape down the road if things need to move quickly. Those same key relationships can provide valuable information and insight into what is happening when a problem needs to be addressed. Decision-making should be done on the local level whenever possible to increase timely reaction to possible disasters that seem to plague the island. An open door policy should be established early on allowing everyone’s opinion to count and be valued.
The key to a proactive human resources department is in the organizational goals that are established in the beginning. The first goal should be to protect the rights of all employees that are working out of the local offices. In order to do this compliance requirements and training should be set up. Local laws should be written into company policy and training materials to help all employees understand proper procedures within the legal scope. The second goal is to set guidelines of how to monitor sensitive data keeping it secure. This helps to protect the organization from informational theft. This also helps to ward off potential legal battles reducing risk and financial strain. The third goal of the human resources should be in the area of providing benefits to the employees. Locating the best value for both the employees and the organization should do this. Looking into different providers for health insurance, 401k, dental insurance, vision insurance, and even short and long-term disability will be a big part of the human resources.

Ethics are at the core of our particular organization because of the nature of helping in disaster situations. Some organizations take advantage of people during difficult times and pressure them to make poor decisions. Our organization is designed to help them during these times and more important protect them from other organizations with this intent in mind. It is very important that the organization establish ethical guidelines when dealing with local government and other organizations with power. If these guidelines are in place early on then it will reduce the possibilities of corruption affecting our ability to meet our goals. As indicated by Tenbrunsel et al. (2003), formal elements of corporate ethics programs can be defined as ‘‘those that are documented and standardized, visible to anyone inside or outside the organization.’’ In addition, the Guidelines also emphasize the importance of informal elements (namely: organizational culture, values and other intangibles aspects): the Guidelines state clearly that, in order for the ethics compliance program to be effective, corporations should ‘‘promote an organizational culture that encourages ethical conduct.’’ Both formal and informal components are therefore essential elements for an effective implementation of corporate ethics programs. (Colle and Werhane 2008) Essentially what this means when it comes to our organizations ethics is that the culture of the organization should promote the ethics. Those ethics should be visible internally and externally through the actions of all the employees.
