The term Renaissance Man or Renaissance Individual refers to a person that is skilled in many talents and/or has extensive knowledge. Through the centuries, there have been many people who have fit this description. People like Leonardo da Vinci, Einstein and Galileo Galilei.
In these modern times, it is hard to distinguish between a true modern Renaissance person and someone who displays a great many talents as many people excel in a lot of different fields. Though there still are those who classify as a Renaissance person. One of these elite few, is a women by the name of Oprah Winfrey. A media giant and a caring individual, Oprah has changed the world for the better. With her touching shows, movies and events, Oprah has proved time and time again that she is the definition of a Renaissance Individual. Oprah Winfrey is considered a Renaissance Individual because she is smart and excels in fields such as acting, singing, public speaking, producing, and writing.

She started with nothing, being the poorest of poor and grew to be a media giant. She overcame poverty, neglect, sexual abuse and racism. Through it all she never gave up and this is why she will inspire others to do the same.
