Nurses are increasingly becoming involved in decision-making to enhance their contributions and thereby promoting positive outcomes for the patients. Development of leadership skills enables the nurses to become aware of the power structures underlying in the health systems. It is a bottom-up culture wherein the leader helps his team to achieve the goals of the organization. This is also considered as a management philosophy where the manager inspires his people to grow. The people working on the front line like as nurses have the authority to say regarding the achievement of the organizational goals by establishing the behavioural standards and values of the organization (Carey, 2014). There are ten principles related to servant leadership are interrelated to nursing team of New Zealand that is empathy, listening, awareness, healing, conceptualization, persuasion, stewardship, foresight, building community and commitment towards people growth which are best suitable to nurses of New Zealand because nurses act as a servant for the patient . All these principles collectively contribute towards the development of nursing leadership.
