Operating systems

An operating system is software that completes a device this ranges from a phone, to tablet, to a computer and more. This software is the part of the computer that you know is there but you are not able to touch. It acts as a mediator between the hardware of the device and the user. This is what accepts commands from the user and then lets the hardware know what to do or what the user is requesting. Picture you’re in a foreign country that speaks a different language but you have a friend that 's there with you and they speak that language. ...re needed. At the end of this paper is a diagram of the showing the relationship of the kernel the operating system and the devices.

The Linux kernel is build a bit different than the kernel of other operating systems in the fact that it is build up of smaller parts to create the kernel as a whole which allows for it to be scaled down and up. Other operating system like windows kernel is coded as single unit which makes it harder to scale down to be placed on other devices like a phone for example. When it comes to the stability of the kernel in Linux it is more resilient and robust. One part on the kernel may have a security issues but will not affect the operation of the other parts since it is not coded as one whole coded but instead smaller unites. The Linux kernel has being coded by thousand of programmers and yet it still remains very stable.
