Online education can be described as a type of educational instruction which is delivered through the internet to students using their computers anywhere in the world (Online Education, 2015). In the last ten years, the popularity of online degrees and courses have been witnessed amongst non-traditional students. These group of students include: individuals who want to continue with their learning as they work fulltime or raise their families. Normally, the courses are offered through the host school’s online learning platform. However, other technologies can also be used to offer this courses. The first advantage is that online learning provides learners with a flexible learning environment in that they can study from any location as long as they have an internet connection. In today’s world, most people lead busy lives and lack time to go back to school. It is at this point that online learning saves the day. Secondly, learners have the luxury to enroll into any degree program offered by any university in the world has long as it has an online learning platform. This therefore lessens the worry of the inability of finding a degree that can meet one’s lifestyle and preference. It is also cheaper to learn using the online platforms because almost all the materials used are in downloadable format and the time needed to complete the online courses are relatively shorter.
