Online learning should be an option in every school district for high school students to complete their secondary education. It is often thought that student learning should only occur in a classroom setting with a teacher facilitating instruction. However, with so many diverse learning styles and varying situations in students’ home lives which make it increasingly difficult to stick to one method, online learning is fast on its way to becoming an aid in our fight for student academic achievement. Online K-12 education has moved into core high-school courses where districts found themselves with teacher shortages—math, science, foreign languages—and has been growing rapidly, and in a dozen directions, ever since. (Donlevy, J. 2003). Access to various types of information and resources has been recognized as a key advantage to online learning. Students have access to millions of documents, databases, libraries, museums, and other online resources. The Internet has endured and thrived as one of the most important technological tools we have available to us. As the possibilities for accessing information and resources online continue to broaden, e-learning will indeed be at the very core of important educational metamorphosis and innovation for years to come.
