Fear. A seemingly indestructible force that can turn human beings into monsters who bring upon chaos and mindless terror. Fear can inspire those who have to power to change the way that we learn and restrict our creativity. They limit our depth of thought and originality by teaching us to memorize information and bubble in test answers instead of question the reason behind what we are learning and why we are learning it. Considering the infamous reputation of teenagers being rebellious and irrational, it is understandable that trust should be earned. One way that is proving to be particularly helpful in managing the pace that you learn at is online education. Online education allows you to work around your busy schedule outside of school while maintaining a consistent education. “Students appear to be benefiting from online learning programs. While evidence about the effectiveness of K-12 online learning programs is limited, there is reason to believe that students can learn effectively online. In 2009, the U.S. Department of Education published a meta-analysis of evidence-based studies of K-12 and postsecondary online learning programs.[3] The study reported that "students who took all or part of their class online performed better, on average, than those taking the same course through traditional face-to-face instruction."[4] In addition, online learning has the potential to improve productivity and lower the cost of education, reducing the burden on taxpayers.[5]” Personally, a few peers I know that have used online education in the past and I have found it useful. It has proven to be particularly helpful around a busy schedule and the teaching material provided was helpful and effective. If I did not grasp a certain concept or lesson, I could easily go back to it and review it until it made sense to me. The world is your campus.
