Gay is Okay!
Should gays be treated with the same respect as all other people? Conservative Christians and gay people are going at it again. They never seem to tire of this war. Only few Christians have the guts to admit that they believe that all gays should be treated with the same respect as any other people! It seems that only a person with a number of gay and lesbian friends and acquaintances can realize the importance of getting to know the people behind the labels and images society makes; and their experience of building connections with people of many different backgrounds and personal differences has been both challenging and tremendously rewarding.
Why do some Christians seem to need a stereotypical enemy, bogeyman, or group caricature that represents all that is wrong with the world? Perhaps some Christians are, seeing themselves, as the representatives of Christ on earth, need some group to target as the representatives of Satan. Perhaps they also secretly fear that they themselves are not good enough for God, which they themselves deserve to be punished in hell, that God does not really love them, or that they cannot rely on such love since they most likely do not deserve it. This fear may lead them to project this view of themselves as evil and undeserving outward onto some group of demonized others. Such people do not seem to believe that Divine Love is unconditional, that there is no need for anyone to earn it, that Divine Grace, like the rain, falls on the just and the unjust alike--and so they cannot trust in the surety of Divine Love nearly so much as they rely on the certainty of Divine Judgment.
Since the Soviet Union collapsed in the early 1990's and the nuclear arms race has effectively stalled, new enemies are taking the place of the communist demons, including feminists, Muslims, Pagans and gays. And so, unfortunately drama is being rewritten, including impressive flourishes describing earthquakes and hurricanes as expressions of God's wrath at the presence of gay people in U.S. society. In reference to supposed Biblical proscriptions against homosexuality, any Bible-reader knows that stealing is also condemned in the Bible; but you never see militant religious believers carrying signs that read god hates looters, however, you do see them with signs that god hates gays...

...n merely by being born human (as if any of us had any say in that matter). Today’s society needs to realize that it cannot earn Divine Love and Grace because there is no NEED to earn such things; and certainly cannot win Divine Love or approval by hurting others. Divine Grace and Love are not transactions that need to be paid for. Society also need to understand how it has hurt people by projecting its own insecurities and inner demons onto them, to stop behaving thus, and get to know as people the very people society is told are "undesirables." Many are also in deep need of spiritual healing. Some need to spend more time observing the life of the natural world, and to accept that we have been created with a joy in living and that these can take many forms that were not understood by people who wrote religious texts several thousand years ago. Change and variety are among the few constants in our universe, and humans are made to express infinite variety in every aspect of our personalities, including our sexuality. This is how it should be, if the human species is to survive and flourish. How else is anyone supposed to love, if not the way they already do as individuals?
gay people are not as worthy of respect, dignity and honor as the lives of
One of the most well known technological innovator and manufacturer was Thomas Alva Edison. He invented many devices which are still being used today, with some modifications. He even built a vote-recording device before he was twenty-one. Some inventions were the phonograph, incandescent light bulb, and the kinetoscope, which was much like a motion picture camera. In total, he has patented 1,093 inventions. He earned the nickname “The Wizard of Menlo Park”.
This paper will be an effort to explain about Thomas Alva Edison and his life before the 1900s. Thomas Edison was an American inventor, he was considered the most prolific inventor in American history and one of America’s leading businessmen who came from humble beginnings to work as an inventor of major technology. He was also giving public recognition as a participant in the production of helping build America’s economy during the nation’s vulnerable early years. Thomas Edison was born on February 11th, 1847 in Milan, Ohio. He was the last and youngest out of seven children of Samuel Edison Jr., an exiled political activist, and Nancy Elliott Edison, an accomplished school teacher. When he was seven years old he suffered from scarlet fever
The American debate on homosexuality reveals an unquestionable, though awfully uninvited, fusion between religion and politics, revealing a dangerous lack of separation between the church and state. The concern is not about the presence of spirituality in American politics, but the implications institutionalized religion has on the lives and rights of human beings. Nothing hinders the political and social progress of lesbian women and gay men quite like the complexities of religion. Dating back to the beginning of literature itself, homosexuality is far from modern. Nonetheless, homosexuality is currently the most divisive and fiercely debated topic in recent religious discourse. While most Christians maintain allegiance in labeling same-sex relationships as morally wrong, the church is dramatically divided on the proper place for gays and lesbians in American society and of course, American politics.
Fag. Poof. Fairy. Homo. Dyke. Those are all words that are used on a daily basis to put down those who do not fit into the Bible’s supposed cookie-cutter, straight sexual orientation label. Homophobia has been around since the eleven hundreds, but before then homosexuality was viewed as healthy, normal, and at times it was even worshipped. However, society’s view of homosexuality has somehow been warped into a violently negative opinion. How did this happen? The main perpetrators of homophobia are the Bible and those who preach its word, or at least their version of its word. Which brings up the translation issues scattered throughout the Bible. The New Testament was written in Greek and there are not always direct translations of each word in English. The messages in the Bible that are said to condemn homosexuality can be interpreted in a more accepting way than they are usually preached.
The essay by Peter J. Gomes, entitled Homophobic? Read Your Bible, can be analyzed in many ways. The essay discusses the issue of homosexuality as it relates to religion. The Baptist minister provides an unexpected approach to the subject. Mr. Gomess thesis statement in this essay is, The army of the discontented, eager for clear villains and simple solutions and ready for a crusade in which political self-interest and social anxiety can be cloaked in morality, has found hatred of homosexuality to be the last respectable prejudice of the century (Homophobic 414). This essay uses effective evidence to prove the thesis statement while also doing a good job of refuting opposing views.
Some of his inventions include the photograph, the motion picture the electrographic vote recorder, and his most famous invention the light bulb. Thomas edison started working on his igea of a light bulb in 1878. He envisioned it as a oil and gas based light that would be longlasting that could be used indoors instead of having to use the outdoor light. He based his ideas on other people's inventions such as Henry Woodward and Mathew Evans. He found that there were many flaws with where light sources and planned on creating a whole different approach to building his light build that would fix all on the problems. Thomas Edison light bulb consisted of a carbon filament. It took him many tries before he successfully tested his lightbulb which lasted thirteen and a half hours. His carbon light bulb became a patent on November 4, 1879. Even though the light bulb was already patent Thomas Edison still found more ways to improve it. He discovered that carbonized bamboo filament could last 1,200 hours, so Edison decided to form the Edison Electric Light Company where he could publicly sell his new light bulbs and have access to new supplies where he can improve and manufacture his carbon light bulbs. Thomas edison created a whole new way of access to working and living environments that impacted history in a great
In Daniel Karslake’s documentary, For the Bible Tells Me So, he examines the intersection between Christianity and homosexuality. Karslake uses parallelism, appeal to emotion, and appeal to logic to highlight how the religious right has used its interpretation of the bible to stigmatize the gay community. With the use of these rhetorical devices, he is able to auspiciously convey his argument that there can be a healthy relationship amongst the opposing side of this belief. He attempts to enlighten the viewer with the thought that Christianity's homophobia represents a misreading of scripture, a denial of science, and an embrace of fake psychology. The families call for love.
Thomas Alva Edison was born in Milan, Ohio on 11 February 1847. He died in Orange, New Jersey on 18 October 1931. It can be said that Thomas Edison was one of the most influential people of the 19th century. Thomas Edison was responsible for many inventions that influenced America to become a more modernized country. His inventions are some of the most important inventions to date. Some examples of his inventions are the iridescent light bulb, carbon microphone, and the Kinetoscope or movie camera. Thomas Edison was a prism of history.
In my opinion we are all equal. we are all human beings who have the same abilities,we have two arms, two legs a brain etc… and they have many qualities that can be developed but only by the fact that their sexual orientation is different from the "common" man and woman, woman and man I feel we are depriving them from so many things, which in my opinion we are doing an injustice as a society.
I, Thomas Alva Edison, was born was born in Milan, Ohio on February 11th, 1847. I had seven siblings that were all older than him. My parents were busy people. My dad, Samuel, owned a lumber factory. My mom, Nancy, was a school teacher. I attended a school in Michigan, but I only went to school for no more than three months in his entire life. I was then home schooled by my mother. When I turned thirteen, I got my very first job as a newspaper boy. Since, I was a newspaper boy who worked by the railroad, I made my own lab that I could access from the railroad. I even saved a baby’s life after he almost got run over by a train. I opened my first ever real lab in Newark, New Jersey. I had over 300 workers working in this lab. After I opened this lab, I created a second lab. This second lab was in Menlo Park, New Jersey. This was probably the most important lab of my life because I created some of my most famous and most used inventions in this lab. Some of these inventions that I made here was th...
Based on the business strategy and tactics, Zara has been trying to optimize its business operation largely in three cyclical processes ordering, fulfillment, and design and manufacturing. More extended or peripherals of the principles can be summarized as follow;
“American inventor Thomas Alva Edison was a pioneering figure in science whose inventions and innovations forever changed the way people lived all over.” (Thomas Alva Edison Scientist, p.1 par. 2) This famous quote is about the inventor Thomas Edison. Edison was a great inventor because he kept on trying and trying and trying until he finally got his inventions to be perfect. He worked very hard on some of his most famous inventions, such as the phonograph and the lightbulb. Thomas Edison was a significant figure in American history because his invention of the lightbulb greatly helped Americans see and work at night and also inspired others to create better technology.
Christians know what to abide by. They may know that being a homosexual is going against Gods word but they also know that the Lord says that one should love all no matter what circumstances. Calling homosexuals offensive names is just as offensive as from public displays of affection from homosexuals. Of course I for one do not fin any kind of this public display offensive but some might. So if some want the respect to get homosexuals to keep their proclamation of loving one another private then they have to stop the name calling and violence. Homosexuals are just as human or Christian as anyone may be so that is more of a reason to love them. The Bible says that sinners will be forgiven so for us to be more God like shouldn't we forgive homosexuals?
Thomas Edison is widely regarded as one of the most influential inventors and innovators of the Twentieth Century. Edison’s efforts ushered in a new era of technology; a world in which electricity would be harnessed and made to bow before man’s will. Walter Lippman wrote, “It is impossible to measure the importance of Edison by adding up the specific inventions with which his name is associated” (qtd. in Baldwin 409). Edison’s decades long career was a synergistic melding of his success as an inventor and his prowess as a promoter and businessman. He exemplified the ideals of intelligence married to hard work and perseverance. He forever changed the landscape of American invention and the limits of technological change (Baldwin 409).
