Occupational choice is the most important decision for one person without any doubt which could be made in a person's life time. For example, Ginzberg, Ginsburg, Axelrad, & Herma, carried out a major study in 1951 researching about occupational choice, which now in the 21st century is known as the originating theories about the topic. Ginzberg et al.’s (1951) main focus was to research on the behavior of individuals, how by making decisions by different stages and how it is the self-concept of adjusting to new conditions. Ginzberg(1951) always made an agrument that the occupational choice was a lifelong decision process who look for satisfaction from their jobs. According to Ginzberg et al, the view point of his research was that human being make their decision which equals their values and interest with the talents that are available for them, as well the costs. Ginzberg(1951) stressed that to choose a occupation is one of the most important and cruical choice a human being makes in his life time.
In addition Williams (1974:15) referred to how it is very important at times to decide the standard of living, the income, quality of one’s life, self-esteem, social relationship, the environment and it is crucial to find whether the child of a particular family would enter which occupation field. Nearly everyone has the desire to be successful in their lives, whether it be measured in the amount of wealth a man owns or the accomplishments he has made in his life. Therein lies the most common, the success in a man's profession. There are multiple approaches to this connotation of success where a wide range of techniques can be applied. One might think that the only way to reach a particular level of success is to take on a competitive nature and achieve that coveted position of number 1. However, being competitive does not necessarily insure that a person is ‘successful.’ They must be competent in their field to reach the top spot. An example of these two sides can be found within Arthur Miller’s Death of A Salesman using the characters Willy and Bernard.

Attitudes about personal interest and career choices are influenced by a person‘s culture and age. “I want to be a pilot.” “I want to a lawyer.” Younger generations always decide their interest and what they want to do as their career based on their own benefit. Observing from the past in the U.S., very limited opportunity is offered to the Chinese immigrants. They might consider if they can do it, in stead of if they want to do it or not. Regardless of what education level they possessed most of the Chinese immigrant work as a waiter, waitress or some low paid jobs. However, the Chinese immigrants’ position in U.S. community is changing these years. Chinese immigrants are being appreciable in the U.S. community. As the changes, there were so many conflicts between younger and older generation who are Chinese immigrants after viewing on career choices and personal interest. I am interested in this topic and I have interviewed two people of different generation who both earned a bachelor degree in the U.S. Except generation differences, they have got similar background. I am going to learn more about how different generations view personal interest and career choices.
Occupational science is an emerging academic discipline which is based on the traditional values and beliefs of the occupational therapy practice as articulated by Adolph Meyer, (Yexer ,1993), (Reilly, 1962) and others. It draws on a range of theories, research methodologies and approaches in order to understand humans as occupational beings. Also, it assumes that people’s experiences in engagement in meaningful and purposeful occupations influences both performance and intrinsic motivation ( Haertl, 2007)
Analyzing career theory is an important task, not only as an individual but also on a large scale. If everyone has the career they are best at and enjoy above all others, the world would be a much happier place. Imagine a world where each individual viewed work as not something they have to do, but as something they want to do. Productivity would increase at all levels. Charitable foundations and businesses would be abundant. Whereas this ideal may not be fathomable at this point, if each person used this information, it would be only a matter of time before we are moving in that harmonious direction.
I was placed into a school up to my educational standard, surrounded by students who were not better or worse than me. Yet Gatto might disagree by referring to point four of Inglis break down of the “actual purpose” of the school system: “…children are to be sorted by role and trained only so far as their destination in the social machine merits—and not one step further. So much for making kids their personal best” (3). I need to disagree with the author’s view point on this statement because, it was the perfect environment for me to rebuild my confidents in my educational abilities. Furthermore, because of exceling in my classes, my teachers saw my capabilities and moved me up into higher level of education. If I wouldn’t have been placed in this educational environment, I’m pretty sure it would not have rekindled my desire to pursue onto a track into higher education, of being my personal best, and to allow myself to dream
The first suggestion that Mrs. Johnson should consider would be her career choice factors through trade offs or career decisions. The more educated and diverse a society is, the better society’s job market is served. This social economic separation of class is both good and bad for society. Many workers at the lower levels of employment are both pleased and displeased with many aspects of work. Though this fact also holds true with most any job at any level, pay scale often compensates for endurance of a particular job type. The security of a person’s job is also an issue that in today’s economic times forces one to be prepared for change.

Of the twenty two occupations listed for ISFJ, they are divided into 3 groups, the most attractive, moderately attractive and least attractive. Most attractive offers the best opportunity to find an occupation where someone can use their natural presences and be satisfied. The moderately attractive may, or may not offer expressing preferences depending on the task or work environment. The least attractive ISFJ is associated with jobs that doesn’t offer any expression whatsoever. The career trends type for ISFJ are divided into two primary groups of occupations. The largest group involves working in office and administration which requires careful attention and relevant ideas. The other group implicates that I fit to work in the health care field where I can take on a variety of roles that allows me to provide direct and practical help to others. The most popular occupations for my type are bank teller, registered nurse and Home Health Aide. I could find these occupations satisfying to me because it involves helping other individuals and advise them on what’s best to do. As a home health Aide I could help patients who have memory problems in reminding them to do their daily tasks or be a look out on their movements. The least
Super’s theory of career choice focuses on five different life stages. At each stage different experiences and decisions influence and shape persons working lives. These five life stages include; growth (birth-14), exploration (15-24), establishment (25-44), Maintenance (45-64), Decline (65+) (Kleynhans, 2006). An example of this theory prescribes by personal development map since, the growth stage in which I developed a passion for accounting. The exploration stage is when I found a job ,as a accountant clerk to a construction company and until my 24 years old ,I have changed another job as an accountant in Alexander the Great Hotel and at the same time I was study ACCA . Imagine being stuck in a dead end job and having to go to work every morning and dreading it. That is no spending oneÕs time and life is too short to work 35 years and be unhappy with it. If a person likes the job they do then it is not work, because finding satisfaction out of a job can bring great happiness. That information has enabled me to make the decision of choosing my area of study and career in the field of Information Technology.
