Let me start out by asking a couple questions, what do you know about health issues? The risk of getting a heart attack, diabetes or even shorten your lifespan. What do you know about health in general? “Obesity is the second leading cause of preventable death in the United States” (Obesity and Mortality). Something that can be controlled is instead out of control because of certain foods and drinks people consume daily. Some could be problems at birth regarding the genes of a parent; also many times the environment causes influential issues towards certain people, and last but not least being an inactive person. Those are some issues that can and will cause an unhealthy life leading to obesity, there are many other causes but those are most leading problems and to why obesity itself can shorten your life even at worst case scenarios kill you.
Food and drinks are the major reasons why more and more people become overweight and after a time even obese. In the United States the consuming of fast foods is through the roof with a staggering “11.3 percent who’s average adult 's daily caloric intake was derived from fast food” (Levine). People don’t realize when they eat food containing high calories and things such as high doses of cholesterol and sodium found in junk foods. Calories play a big role in daily diets, they have to be calculated or controlled on how much one can take a day. The average American calorie intake per day is 2,000 so more people tend to look at the nutritional facts about a hamburger or tacos and see that only 450 calories aren’t much comparing to 2,000. As we know now eating unhealthy, being inactive, and have a poor influence over junk food causes the risk of obesity. It is really important to make sure being healthy and not eating junk; not having any health problems being healthy live a long life is rather more suitable for anyone. Anyone can watch what he or she are eating and calculate so they don’t go overboard, as for environment parents and schools need to motivate more teenagers to follow a healthier life and do what’s necessary. Eating junk food becomes addictive and tends to have a negative effect on people who do. It all starts with education of health and food and what we teach our kids and students, live free and healthy.
