Nutrition is important in your daily life. Having good nutrition is key to being healthy. Always eating and drinking with regular exercise is part of being healthy. With a well-balanced diet and regular exercise your health will be excellent.
Poor nutrition varies from adults to young children. Sugar intake amongst adults and children are the same. Recommended that adults and children should have sugar intake of less than ten percent, with more health results you should reduce sugar intake by less than five percent. This is just not a once a month, you have to follow this diet for the rest of your life in order to see vast results. By doing this you will see great changes in your health. People who have less intake of sugars are more likely to be healthy than someone with more sugar intake. Sugars in your diet are associated with higher weight gain, which than can lead to obesity and other health problems.

Wasting threatens the lives of young children all around the world. In many third world countries children are under nutrition or malnourished. Statistics show that fifty one million children around the world are affected from wasting, which is the lack of nutrition which is required for people to grow. The cause of most under nourished children in third world countries is poverty. Families in third world countries cannot afford food or their country does not have those resources. Villages in Africa often do not have the proper resources for safe food and water, which can cause children to get certain bacteria’s which will lead to under nutrition. (WHO, 2012) Overweight and Obesity affects many different people and at different point of time in their life. The group that is most affected by overweight and obesity is Non-Hispanic blacks with a rate of forty seven percent. Obesity is higher among the age group of forty to fifty-nine. Adults of the older age group are more prone for overweight and
According to the Webster dictionary, obesity is defined as “a condition characterized by the excessive accumulation and storage of fat in the body.” The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention says that “more than one-third of the United States adults are obese, and that adolescent’s obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in children in the past 30 years.” Obesity sometimes affects some races more than they do others. Non-Hispanic blacks have the highest age-adjusted rates of obesity (47.8%), followed by Hispanics
All over the world, in many undeveloped countries such as Honduras and Nicaragua, poverty and starvation, as well as the spread of diseases due to unclean environments and the lack of education about these illnesses, are serious issues. Something needs to be done rectify the conditions that produce these hardships and to eliminate their continuation. The argument regarding “Nature versus Nurture” is not a simple one, for both nature and nurture play a role in this problem but also in the solution to this problem. Children need to eat properly. Nurture, in my opinion plays a major role in the solution and prevention of malnourishment but more prominently the spread of diseases. Lack of education is the primary target. Without education, nothing changes. Educating people to the dangers of the diseases, how to prevent contracting them, and last how to treat and contain them will the status of the “third world”. However with the subject of malnourishment nature takes the cake. With the Sudanese government controlling everything to maintain power, the crop growth is just not adequate and is the crux of the malnourishment issue. We need to feed the children, not arm adults. That we are fortunate enough to be provided with more than enough food in the U.S gives us the means to help those in need in Sudan. I want to help so that other kids are nourished properly: let the change begin with
There are also multiple deficiencies the children suffer from that have serious side-effects on their health. The effects of undernutrition doesn’t stop at wasting, being underweight, and stunting, but it can also increase the chances of the child being susceptible to disease and death (Basset, 2010). It can also affect their mental and physical development which in turn affects how well they do in school. Although Haiti has been making improvement on their undernutrition problem with children, they still have higher rates for being underweight and wasting. One in every ten children under the age of 10 in Haiti are wasted, one in every three are stunted and two in every ten are underweight according to a survey conducted by the fourth national Haiti Demographic and Health Survey (Ayoya et al., 2013). They also found that the stunting occurs more often in rural areas versus urban due to the rural area being higher in
Undernourishment has been a problem for a long time in poverty areas in Africa, and it is especially harmful to children. Malnutrition could cause a lot of health problems of children like cognitive disorder and underweight. (Adam, & Watanabe, 1999; Victora, Adair, Fall, Hallal, Martorell, Richter, & Sachdev, 2008) WTO evaluates that one million of the youth are dead of malnutrition every year, and 35% of all children mortality is due to malnourishment. (Prüss-Üstün, Bos, Gore, & Bartram, 2008)
The people that hunger affects the most in the past and in the present have been the people of the lowest socioeconomic class. It can especially have a drastic effect on children because it can hurt them for the future. The world bank stated this about malnourished kids in the first two years of life saying “ Children are especially vulnerable—malnutrition in the first two years of life can result in physical and cognitive damage that diminishes future health, welfare, and economic well-being.”(“Working to End Hunger, Now and in the Future”) The world bank is trying to say that children can be affected the most by food insecurity and it has a lot of effect on their future. This is a very big problem for these children because if in their childhood
A child needs a healthy, balanced diet to achieve his or hers full growth potential. Nutrition also influences a child’s social and cognitive development. It is recommended that children accumulate and store nutrients to prepare them for their growth spurt, which is experienced during the adolescent stage. A child who is not eating properly, and is lacking the nutrients that is needed are at risk for health problems. The health problems a child is at risk for are obesity, tooth decay, and food sensitivities. To avoid these health problems such as obesity, it is recommended to limit energy-dense, nutrient-poor snack foods. Another obvious recommendation is to ensure that your child remains active, enduring physical activity, and limiting television time. Lastly it’s also best to stay away from fruit juices and avoid soft drinks. Avoiding drinks like that are important, because fruit juices and soft drinks have a ton of unnecessary sugars. Those fruit juices that are consider “healthy” usually contain more sugar in them than vitamins and antioxidants. Too much sugar can cause obesity, and can even effect a child’s dental health. Healthy eating during adolescents is very important as well as I mentioned previously. Many adolescents experience a growth spurt and an increase in appetite and need healthy foods to meet their growth needs. It is important that boys in their adolescent stage consume an average of 2,800 calories per day. And for girls in their adolescent stage it is necessary that they consume up to 2,200 calories per day. It is important that an adolescents diet consist of proteins like beef, chicken, turkey eggs. It is also necessary that they consume carbohydrates like rice bread, potato. Nutritionists recommend that complex carbohydrates make up 50%-60% of a teenagers caloric intake, says Healthchilderen.org. Healthychilderen.org also says fat

Starvation is a big problem in certain places. 1 in every 6 people face hunger in the world. Most of these people are children and people who live in developing countries. Since countries are not ready to produce food for the people there is not enough. Children are the most vulnerable because their weak, small and their bodies haven't fully developed yet. Out of the 925 million peopects about 925 million people in the world. Due to overpopulation, many people are dying from lack of food. There aren’t many things we can do to help these people who are strugglle starving 1.5 million of them are children. Africa, Haiti, and Ethiopia have a large number of people suffering from starvation. Haiti has 5.0 million people are facing food shortage, that is 44.5 percent of Haiti’s population. Ethiopia has a much larger amount of people dealing with starvation, 34.0 million which is 40.2 percent of the population. More than 2500 children die each day in Africa.
The inability to easily access food, or in other terms, food insecurity brings with it a number of negative effects to those affected, be it at individual, national or international level. Countries that have recorded a high rate of food insecurity for a long time start have citizens who exhibit signs of starvation and stunted growth. Individuals with stunted growth are prone to several diseases since starvation lowers their bodies’ capability to fight disease. Children who are exposed to starvation at an early age develop complications with their development. There are various causes of food insecurity varying from one country to the other. Some of the most common natural causes of food insecurity are water crises, climate change and degradation of land. Man made causes of food insecurity in the world include rapid population growth, dependence on fossil fuels and poor governance. This paper focuses on the effe...
“Malnourished children are 20% less literate than those with a healthier diet, says UK charity Save the Children” (The Information Daily). When parents become victims of poverty it can have some very unpleasing long and short term effects to their children. Parents in poverty have a lot on their plate and buying the best quality food or affording enough food can be a tumultuous task. Quality nutrition is essential for the development of the brain. At a young age, poor nutrition or not enough nutrition can seriously hinder “the brain 's development, a child’s ability to learn and has a devastating impact on a child’s future”(The Information Daily). “Malnutrition in the early developmental stages of the brain, by restricting the children’s cognitive growth, can lower a child 's IQ has much has 20 points”(The Information Daily). Long term effects of malnutrition leave permanent damage to the brain, however, malnutrition has short term effects as well. Malnourishment can greatly compromise a child’s immune system, making them more susceptible to infectious diseases. “Low counts of zinc, iron and vitamin A are commonly associated with weakened immune function” (Orphan Nutrition).
