Because every patient comes with a unique physical, psychological and social challenges demanding the care of a nurse; profoundly trusting the nurse and the healthcare team to solve a crisis or a problem. Weather a clinical nurse or nurse manager, nurse leadership is always about the best outcome for the client. The healthcare system requires a team of professionals to work together to care for clients. Even if the decision making and problem solving process involved a group of different healthcare professionals working as a team; the nurse plays the primary role caring for patients.

In nursing, there are often complicated situations and multiple options as a solution, which means critical thinking is essential for analyzing the situation and determining the best solution. Well informed nurse is the nurse who can provide excelling decision. Well informed nurse is prone to follow evidence based practice instead of focusing on only problem solving. Evidence based practice often provide a long term solution instead of a quick fix. Effective and successful nursing schools teach their students to become critical thinkers by providing scientific information to their students and nurture them to develop evidence based skill practices.
