There are many ways you can define leadership, the basic definition for leadership is the action of leading a group of people or an organization "Leadership." I feel as if leadership is beyond just that. Leadership is not only about leading people, but inspiring people to better themselves or even being a person they look up to and trust. This is why I feel that leadership has an infinite amount of definitions.
Growing up people experience different kind of leaderships. I grew up with the opportunity to experience two different styles of leadership. With my dad being in the Army I experienced more of a straightforward, “Get it done right” type of leadership. My dad, a very positive leader in my life, has always told me how important it is to have a great work ethic in life. He would tell me stories about how he grew up in a very poor and prejudice era. My dad inspired me to work hard for what I want and to be thankful for what I have. The Army shaped my dad to be very stern and strict, so when he tells me to do something I know to make sure to do it right the first time. While my dad’s style of leadership is more straight to the point, my mom is the complete opposite. My mom is more of a compassionate, kindhearted leader. My mom is a nurse, which inspired me to follow in her footsteps. My dad being the enforcer differentiated from my mom who would sit down and talk to me, showing more compassion. I have always looked up to my mom because of the way she connected with people and put them before herself. With my mom’s loving nature and my dad’s strong upbringing, I feel as if their parenting styles shaped me into the individual I am today.

...e same everyone has their own style of leadership. Each leader has their own positive and negative qualities and that’s because no one is perfect. I personally believe in uplifting people and encouraging them to do their best. I value honesty, faith, respect and consistency. Most of all I believe that a leader should stay true to their values. While writing this paper I learned that I am a very optimistic person and an expressive type leader, I like to be more emotionally involved when I lead. I believe that this paper helped me to find out who I really am.
