My Nursing Experience: A Trip To The Nursing Home

Almost every year she had to go to the hospital , and every time she was admitted with a whole different scenario. From something as little as a fever to something as dreadful as a miscarriage, she suffered greatly. Every time she went to the hospital, I witnessed a different story. As I went to my mom 's room, the only question that came to my mind was : Who will be taking care of her ? How long is the treatment plan? And some other thoughts that just battled me. Seeing someone whom you love soo much in a great pain, and can not do anything about it , is just heartbreaking. It 's true that I 'm the one who stayed with her most of the time and took care of her physical needs but I always felt I could do more. I will never forget her words to me while she was lying on the hospital 's bed with a fragile face and cold hands. “ If u were a doctor , you would be the one who is taking care of me right now” she said. Going to the nursing home every morning ,and being assigned to different residents daily, was such a great experience for me. As a CNA, I came across many situations that changed me personally. One day I have the opportunity to serve a lady who greatly suffered from hemorrhoids. While the working CNA and I gave her a bath, her bed just turned to a sea of blood just from slightly turning her. As we waited for the RN to come in, there was only one thing I thought of doing. I just held her hand and began to assure her that she will be OK soon. Honestly, I have never imagined what a gentle word or touch could do. Some patients might need medicine to get healed, but all of them need a comforting touch and a gentle word for sure. Showing compassion toward patients is one of my qualities as a future
