After finishing up term one of my nursing career, I can officially say I feel nursing is most definitely the profession I have been searching for. It has been over one year since I have started the accelerated nursing program at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. When I first started the program in fall 2014, I have no idea what nursing was like. Although I had my bachelor from another institution, everything I learned was very different compared to the information I have learned in School of Nursing. Nursing school has slowly transformed me into a graduate professional nurse based on the professional development that I have completed along the way.
Nursing is considered the backbone of the healthcare system. This career is an excellent career for me. I like to help people, and work that is somewhat challenging.

This future job will require me to have a great education, extraordinary communication, listening, and personal management skills. As a registered nurse the pay is more than ideal, and it would provide me with the lifestyle I would want to live. The two main areas that I was most interested in would be paediatric Nursing and emergency Nursing. Paediatric Nursing are Nurses who provide care to children starting from infancy to adolescence. The reason why this struck my attention is that I believe children are our nations future and it is crucial form them to get that healthy start at life. I also believe that paediatric nursing would be a rewarding career as the smile nurses put on the face of families of their patient and their patients themselves is priceless. Emergency Nursing is nursing especially concerned with the care of patients who are experiencing emergencies or who are critically ill. Emergency nursing to me sounds like an exciting area of nursing that would keep me on my feet with new cases coming in everyday in this area of nursing no two day would be the same.in addition to all of this there are many new emerging Nursing roles. Nurses can now work as Telephone support nurses, Nurse entrepreneurs, Case Manager Nurses and quality improvement
