No Justice, No Peace!"(Los Angeles Times), a statement that has become the headline of the protest on the 405 freeway in Inglewood. This protest broke out on July 11, 2016 at 10:30p.m. when several civilians garnered attention towards a common goal; to end racial discrimination and police brutality against people of color. Although this protest lasted only about ten minutes, the behavior they displayed was powerful enough to grab ahold of many witnesses on that freeway. With the advancement in media, these protesters sought an opportunity to address the hardships the people of color had to endure along with the "Black Lives Matter" movement. Both are intricate in the topic of beliefs. "The Allegory of the Cave" talks about the actions people find themselves in, and how they are more comfortable when they are forced to stay with the very little knowledge their minds choose to believe. In the short story, when one seeks an opportunity to expand their horizon, they are introduced to a baffling feeling at first. They do not understand what is being presented right in front of them because their whole life they have been forced to believe what the cave had shown them. An act such as this one is very much in comparison to the 405 protest because there may have been an extensive amount of people willing to contribute their opinion, however, there were also an extensive amount of people not willing to contribute due to the lack of knowledge they carry. These protesters along with the man who ached for the escape from the cave both acted in ways that expressed their freedom and justice. The man who escaped saw that there had been more to what meets the eye and as Plato states "The world of knowledge the idea of good appears last of all, and is seen only with an effort; and, when seen, is also inferred to be the universal author of all things beautiful and right"(3). As for the protesters, they designated yet another fight, which got them one step closer to reaching their goal.
