Background Information on Nikolai Chebotaryov
Nikolai Chebotaryov was born on the fifteenth of June 1894. After many years of schooling, he realized that he was talented at mathematics, and soon after, he began his career as a mathematician at the age of fifteen. This is the age that he became deeply interested in mathematics. He had always been good at mathematics, but had never thought to pursue it until this age. His mother and father were very encouraging and they wanted him to pursue what he was good at, and what he loved: mathematics.

He was soon to go off to college in 1910, but he came down with a bad case of pneumonia, and had to postpone his attendance to college until he was eighteen. He soon earned his four-year degree in 1916 and then his masters in 1918 at the University of Kiev through a teacher by the name of Dmitry Grave, a famous Russian mathematician.
In 1921, he had to move to Odessa to help his parents, who had become very sick. But sadly, his father passed away the year following Chebotaryov’s arrival in Odessa. But the year of his father’s death, he proved what he is best known for, the density theorem. This made Dirichlet’s prime’s theorem, more general, by an arithimical progression, which was used by a mathematician named Artin in his reciprocity law in 1927.
Chebotaryov had a good job near Moscow, but was called to work a post, which is a terrible job, as it not only pays terribly, but also is also very uninteresting; as a result, he resigned. He then was successful at finding another job; however, it was another post. But he kept this job because it paid better than the previous job he had. ...round setbacks in life. You can still accomplish what you want even if there are setbacks, for example, Chebotaryov came down with pneumonia when he was planning on going to college, but he still went to college because he wanted to accomplish his long term goal of having a good job with mathematics. An example of a setback that I have come across has been that some of my teachers in school every year have not been the most helpful or encouraging.
Nikolai Chebotaryov
Overall, Chebotaryov has taught me very much, both mathematically and persevering in life. He mostly taught me about lessons in life and that you can do anything that you really want to if you put your mind and all of your physical and mental strength to accomplish what you want to do in life.
