New Moon

This book was quite suspenseful. While the series is known as being mainly romantically-based, New
Moon contains a great deal of mystery. At the beginning, Bella is unwrapping a present while at the house
of her boyfriend (who just so happens to be a vampire). His family is there, too, so when she gets a paper
cut on her finger and then falls onto a glass table and slices her arms up, it's a disaster. With all that
blood, it definitely seems like the vampires would devour her. However, they don't. A few days later,
Edward moves away because he believes it's too dangerous for them to be together. This leaves you
wondering if he'll ever come back. Then, Bella finds that if she puts herself in dangerous situations, she
can hear his voice in her head, so she starts being unreasonably reckless. All the while, Victoria, a vampire
who is set on killing Bella because Edward killed her mate, is hunting our heroine. Eventually, Bella
develops a close friendship with Jacob Black, who she later finds out is a werewolf.
I could best identify with Bella because she's a very real and a very flawed character. She is the perfect
embodiment of teenage love, which is definitely easy to relate to right now. Also, she isn't your typical lead
female. She's not startling pretty, and she's incredibly clumsy, but she's still smart and lovable. Her
family means a lot to her; she's always worrying that by associating with vampires and werewolves she's
putting her mom and dad at risk. Towards the end of the book, she shows her strength and really shines.

arrives at Bella's house and discovers that she isn't dead, the two immediately go to Spain to try and stop
him from killing himself. His plan was to walk across a busy square at noon without a shirt on because
vampires glitter in the sunlight. Bella is running across the courtyard trying to get to him as the clock is
chiming twelve. Luckily, she reaches him just before he's about to show himself.
The main setting of this book is Forks, Washington. Forks is a normal small town where everyone
knows everyone else. To most, the only thing unusual about it is that it gets more rain than any other city
in the U.S. What most people don't know is that it harbors a clan of werewolves and a family of vampires.
Throughout the book, the weather is gloomy, which adds to the slightly depressed tone of most of the
story.
To the urban lifestyle of growing up in the ghettos and the hardships. She depicts the usages of drugs, gang, crime, poverty, teen pregnancy and mostly how it effects the community. But also shows how the outside violence comes into the home and can devastate the natural order of the household.
Luna is the main character. She is smart, thoughtful, and a little shy. She is also very curious. Luna has an opinion about everybody, and she likes intellectual and creative people. She likes talking about her ideas and theories. Luna loves photography, and she has just gotten a camera. I think Luna is very brave because even though it is probably scary to try to find out all of the secrets that her mother had, she is still doing it. That takes courage. Luna is a strong person - she might seem hard to get to know, but once you do, she is a very good person.

Tracy has a bubbly personally that makes you immediately like her. She refuses to let anyone or thing come between her and her dream. Tracy is not what many would consider a typical teen. She is a plump girl and doesn’t let what others think of her get her down.
Catherine’s depiction is of a wild, untamed creature yet at the same time a beautiful, sweet and childlike girl.
In particular, this theme is revealed in many occasions in the book. On page 56, Edward comes out of nowhere and saves Bella from a car accident that potentially could have taken her life. “Two long, white hands shot out protectively in front of me, and the van shuddered to a stop…” In similarity, towards the end of the movie, Edward saves Bella (who is alone) from being attacked by James. This makes us ask, “How are both of these scenes related?” However, both of these scenes are prominent in the movie and the book because they are so vital to the story. This shows how despite being far away, his protectiveness over Bella made him save her. This inflicts very positive characteristics on Edward, such as: bravery, selflessness, and compassion. They are a shadow self “a person who happens to be a supernatural double of a person that has lived before them” (The Vampire Diaries Wiki). This is a spell that bounds people that look identical to Stefan and Elena to be infatuated with one another. Unfortunately this is not “true love” as some people may say. Elena and Stefan feelings and attraction towards each other is not real. Under the Doppelganger spell Elena and Stefan believe they are each other’s match, but it is just the lie the spell cast upon them.
