Moment of enlightenment Change over time is a steady characteristic of life beginning from the genesis till this instant. There is no doubt that for a psychological change in someone’s life to occur and to have a real effect on the way I think and behave, there should be an accumulation of what we call moments of change. A moment of change is simply a situation that stimulates the mind to start shifting or changing an idea, a belief, or a way of perception or evaluation of situations that may happen after. The most important moments of change in my life are those in which I talk to or deal with people who are ten to fifteen years younger than me. I start …show more content…

“Was this my way to evaluate situations in the past?!!”, “Did I do these same acts during my childhood and teenage?!!” “Did I have such a behavior before?!!” Lots of these questions that in some moments make me criticize myself come in to my mind, followed by this hypothesis “If I – and after my first twenty years – have a different way to evaluate myself and my actions, will I have another different way to evaluate myself and my actions in the future too? Then I have to think twice before taking any action or before making any decision”. This is what I end up with, and what pushes me to change and modify my behaviors and the way I perceive and analyze events. The accumulation of such moments leads to formulating a new character inside me; a character that is aware that there is more to know, and that as my perception in the past was determined by narrow borders of age, my perception now is also determined by a relatively greater and wider borders, and it can be right and can be wrong. This category of moments of enlightenment and realization is considered one of the most important stages of change in our life. However, when I’m talking about such a change I’m not underestimating myself when I was younger. A psychological change doesn’t have to be from a wrong way of thinking to a better way. This kind of change is rather from a narrower way of thinking to a wider one. Also this change is not limited to this period of my life; it will absolutely remain a companion for each following day in my life.
