“Dad, look! There’re new kids moving in next door! Looks like there are four children, I guess we will have new neighbors!” I yelled.
“Sarah, come in now, we need to have dinner.” My dad replied causing me not to be able to see any of the family members. All these questions ran through my mind. Are they nice? Is she pretty? What shul will they go to? Do they keep the laws of the Sabbath? Kosher? What about the laws of Tzniut? There I was at the dinner table, eating as fast as I could to be able to go run outside and meet my new neighbors.
“Sarah do you have any homework?” my dad asked as I tried to avoid that question.
“Dad, you always ask. Have you ever seen a ninth grader not have homework?” I responded. I finished eating and ran outside before I was told to go up and do my homework. There they are! Wow, I thought to myself the girls are wearing long dresses! Maybe they just came back from a Bar Mitzvah since it's a Thursday that would make sense. Then the new neighbors mom walked out wearing the same dress but with her entire face covered I was confused, my mom is religious she doesn't cover her nose and mouth? I ran inside to ask my father why she was wearing that
“Dad, why is the woman next door covering her entire face? There is only one little girl that doesn’t have that creepy face mask on?” I asked nervously.
“Oh, my dear. Don't worry about them, it’s just the way they dress.” Responded my dad.
“But dad, can you explain that to me please why do the wear that?” I questioned.
“Go up stairs Sarah, you have a lot of homework to complete for tomorrow get started!” requested my dad.
I ran upstairs very upset wondering what the mask really meant. Maybe they were undercover thieves, so my dad didn't want me to get sca...

“I think I am much better. Can you just take me to shul where my parents are please?” I asked hoping she would agree and my mother would see how amazing they treated me after realizing I am not a filthy Jew but an actual human, and that not everyone is the same one must give them a simple chance to get to now somebody.
“Yes, I am sorry for the way I acted earlier Hasssan has told me how welcoming you have been with her and we are so pleased because this move has been very hard on her.” Hassan’s mother continued thanking me until we arrived at shul.
“Here, she told us she is fine and does not need to go to the hospital. We just want you to know that you have an amazing daughter and you should be very appreciative. “I smiled as she concluded.
“Thank you so much I really don’t know how to thank you enough.” My mom replied with an enormous smile on her face.
“Waldo!” I hear my father yell out, slightly too loudly, as we drive past a man in a red and white sweater.
I look at my mom and shrugged my shoulders, “I don’t know, I think she was talking to her friend about a party or something.”
“There’s my lovely wife,” he said, as he kissed her cheek. He sat down at the head of the table and looked in my sister’s direction. I was happy to see my dad in a good mood. The shower must have worked.
“Open up!” Father opened the door, in the hall we saw three guards all armed with
’Hey Stel, wanna go to Barns & Nobel’s to get more books?’ my Dad yelled from downstairs.
It was August 8th of 2013 when my dad got a call from my Aunt Theresa. She urged him to come over to her house because she had devastating news. The car ride to her house was quiet. The weather was gloomy, the sky was filled with dark cumulus clouds. When we pulled up to my Aunt’s house, the adults were organized into a small circle. My uncles were supporting my grandma, however, I thought nothing of it. My parents had told me to go inside because they had a matter to attend to. I went inside to hang out with my cousins. I saw them a couple days before, but the feeling of happiness never subsides when I see them.
Before sitting down, we decided to get our food first. I made sure to grab a lot of turkey but, to also take sides I will eat. I didn’t want to throw away half a plate of stuffing and cranberry sauce. With a plate full of turkey and vegetables, Sam and I pulled up a couple chairs on the far end of the table.
Just a night. An ordinary night, around fifteen to eleven o’clock. I lay there playing with my xacto knife kit. It belonged to my Grandfather’s aunt. So I guess that’s my great great aunt. Well anyways I finally set aside my kit and started to try and sleep. I’m at my grandparents house in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles. The house? Why it’s a classic Spanish themed home built precisely in 1929. At the end of a Golden Era: The Roaring Twenties. So as I turn to closed eyes I see a boy. A young Hasidic Jewish boy. He looks around the age of eight or nine and asks me in a seemingly cute creepily voice Have you seen my family? I asked what family. The family that seems to be missing. I asked are you from around here? He says, yes I grew up here in the brown roofed house.
“I’m pretty sure she will. You should have had something a while ago. I guess they were hoping it would just clear up itself.” Her mom said softly. She ...
“Dad, what the heck was that for!” I asked. I was really bummed that he did that because I actually had fallen asleep.
It was September 8th 2010, about 8:00 pm my mom had just put Jaclynn, my three-year-old sister to bed. My parents sat my brother Matthew and I down at the dining room table. I was very confused because we only sat at the dining room table for holidays and special occasions. The last time they sat us down this formerly was when my mom was pregnant with my sister. I thought that they were about to tell us that I was going to have another sibling, which would be a bit extreme considering my brother was a sophomore in high school. We sat there patiently waiting for them to explain the reason for this meeting; my mom started explaining that my dad had lost his job about a month ago. My dad said that there was no reason to worry because he had found a new job. I was extremely relieved; I was only thirteen but was old enough to
I would like to thank my mom for all her help and support not just today but over the years and for giving me my “something old” which I'm wearing for luck today. I have a small gift from us for you.
I went with the casually walking away, seeing as I don't have anywhere to run to. I slowly started to walk away, hoping they wouldn't notice it was me. I put the hood of my jacket up trying to hide my face.
