According to research done by the National Fire Protection Association 17 cars catch on fire every hour. This does not account for all over the world, but only in the United States (Ahrens). It is absolutely necessary to use the correct fuel for the car. Similarly, it is necessary for people to put the right fuel into their body. When they eat, their body uses the nutrients it pulls from the food, to fuel their body. Their body needs certain foods in order to function, just like how a car needs certain kinds of fuel. Humans need to eat a healthy diet, in order to run in tip-top shape. It will harm a car if diesel is put in a gasoline engine (“Accidentally Putting Diesel in a Gas Car”), in the same way it will be harmful if someone eats too much of one food, or junk food. Cheap repairs are awful for cars in the same way junk food may be convenient, but eating it does not help their body run better. Likewise, a car’s problem can become even worse if someone attempts to incorrectly repair it. It is important for people to use the correct fuel, for a car, and their body. Short-term diets are a quick fix, for the problem. They are based on the idea, that if they eat a certain kind of food, it will help them lose weight. However, in reality, it does nothing but harm. If a person loses weight on a short-term diet, it flies right back on, the moment they stop dieting. The wrong fuel is only working for the moment, but there is nothing gained. Instead of using a long-term diet to eat healthy, they keep attempting to use short-term “fad” diets. People putting in the wrong fuel for their bodies does not fix the problem, but just like going to a high quality mechanic can make their car run better, long-term diets can help people become heal...

Short-term diets are full of nothing but problems. Detoxes are marketing scams, that do not actually help lose weight, but are only profit the seller. People constantly market diets that will burn the calories, instead of needing to burn them themselves. Even if one happens to stumble upon something useful, it will not be able to fix all their problems. At some point they will need to learn how to plan healthy, low calorie meals. Short-term diets are unnecessary, since they do not cause any long term changes. Weight lost through short-term diets returns over time. Long-term diets, on the other hand, are building blocks for a successful habits. It requires time and effort, but it is worth it to live healthily.
