No Child Left Behind
The No Child Left Behind act, or the NCLB, was created in 2001 and was largely considered a failure. Its goal was to update elementary and secondary schools and have student proficiency by 2014. ..., adjusting based on what is working and what is not working, until the goals are met. For the NEA having a slow changing time will not only allow students to adjust but also teachers. Otherwise schools will be overwhelmed with costs and unreachable standards. It is important to ease schools and students into the CCC.
NEA believes, “believes the Common Core State Standards have the potential to provide access to a complete and challenging education for all children,” which is why the NEA should support the CCC. The NEA is determined to focus on, “improving the quality of teaching, increasing student achievement and making schools safer,” which follow the goals of the CCC. The CCC should be open to changes that will better the school system. Untimely, the NEA and the CCC have the same goals- provide better education to all children in America.
