Finally I came to the conclusion that I appeared as a deer in headlights, wide eyed and

disoriented. I batted my eyes several times to wake myself up, but I discovered that I had never

fallen asleep. I hearken to the vibrations of her final breath. I experienced the sound of pure

exhaustion from her battle, confusion, restlessness, and anxiety from leaving behind three kids.

You don’t comprehend the strength your hand contains until you grip someone you never want

to go. I eyed my hand as I pulled it away from my mother’s resting corpse, it was like some sort

of magnetic force not allowing me to break free. After all it wasn’t a dream, those words were

REAL, “she’s now resting peacefully,” The stage four breast cancer had taken her in the ugliest

way possible. Turning around, heading toward any exit I could quickly find, I realized a salty

familiar taste approaching my mouth. Tears that have been haunting me for the last six months of

my mom’s struggle to stay alive had finally hit me once more, and this time they didn’t budge.

My pain lingered in room 347 along with the smell of stale cotton hospital blankets and a final

whiff of chemo therapy that I hoped to never encounter again. There were perhaps no proper

words to describe the pain going through my veins, or the shock my body went through at that

very second she entered death.

Today I wore solid black, a raven is what I considered myself as. I could present

midnight by my appearance, and if I had a pair of wings I would’ve barricaded myself under

them to get away from it all. The color expressed just the way I felt, dark and saddened with a

broken heavy heart. I wish I had the option to opt out of attending the funeral because I knew I

...ld catch up to me, I couldn’t help but think how lovely everything had turned out. My

mother would have been very pleased and thankful for those who attended to support my family.

I realized something very important that day, that very second actually. Every soul there was

touched by my mom in some way or another and that is what life is really about. Death isn’t just

the ending, but it is the beginning. A beginning to many memories that will never die within the

people who loved her the most. I learned to be strong, to fight for what is right, and to help as

many people in life that I can. My Mom impacted them so greatly, I want to do the same in

people’s lives. I want to follow in her footsteps. Lynn was one special cookie, and even though

she is gone, I know she really hasn’t left us. I can still feel her strong presence today, especially

with me.

- There it was, dangling in my field of vision, like a necklace that desired nothing more than to be worn with adornment. It was perfectly in place; however none of that mattered, as long as the noose did its job. My vision suddenly intensified, focusing on those loose threads peeling off the sides of my caller. The time was near. My time was near. I could hear the eerie creek, as my left foot pressed gently down on the corner of the cold wooden chair, which stood as a pulpit for my demise. My mouth opened abruptly....   [tags: Mind, Thought, Time, Anxiety]

Narrative Essay - Original Writing

- I shot up in bed, still feeling the rapid thundering in my chest. My neck was drenched in sweat. I felt chills down my spine as it instantly cooled. I looked around my room – empty, dark, and quiet. I felt relieved, yet overwhelmed with sadness. This dream occurs more and more often as I get older. It starts off in a child’s bedroom in a small apartment. I can smell the smoke and see myself as a child. I am crying and screaming for “Mommy!” There was no fire in the room, but I could see dark air coming through the crack of the door....   [tags: Feeling, English-language films, 2007 singles]

- After I left Trudy’s room, I went into my room and got my night clothes out. After I took my bath, I lay on my bed and hugged one of my pillows. I pretended that it was Levi. I couldn’t wait to spend some time alone with him. As I wondered what we would do, thoughts of movies I could take over to his house crossed my mind. I thought about making him a snack to take over as well. *** The next morning when I woke up, the familiar scent of my mother filled my bedroom. Personal Narrative Essay - Original Writing

- Personal Narrative Living in South Georgia, summer days are always scorching and this July afternoon was no expectation. A few days before the fourth of July the temperature records had already hit record high. The temperature’s high for this day was a blazing 102 degrees Fahrenheit. We had devoted most of the day to being cramped indoors, but with two small, lively boys, Christopher and Easton, they were getting fidgety to go outside. Easton, who was only a mere two years old at the time and he could not understand why he could not play outside in the blistering heat....   [tags: Christianity, Jesus, God, Prayer]

Personal Narrative : Your Eyes - Original Writing Essay

- Close your eyes. Imagine that you are five years old again. You are chasing your dog, smiling and giggling because joy is the only thing that a five year old knows. You hear something spill on the ground, so you run to the place where the noise came from. You see your mom on the ground with frozen peas all around her. Unaware of what happened and still smiling, you ask her, “What’s wrong, mommy?” She starts yelling. When she gets close to you, there is a sting that comes to your cheek. This was your fault....   [tags: Abuse, Child abuse, Domestic violence]

The Test Craze Essays

- Test Jonathan and I are trying to find out what gender I am. Or, rather, we are trying to find out what gender I am supposed to be. I have, throughout my life, been fairly sure I was female, but there is a new test online that claims it can predict genders with 100% accuracy. Jonathan already took it himself, and afterwards seemed even more self-actualized than usual. Jonathan is the only person I have ever heard describe the theories behind Catholicism as "too mean", and, being the sort of person who likes to share love, kindness, and self-actualization with friends, he has made me next in line for testing....   [tags: Personal Narrative Original Writing]
