There are many important points in Edgar Allen Poe’s life. He has done many works, including The Raven, The Sleeper, and For Annie. He has held many jobs and has even lived under different parents. We are going to look at three of these important points in his life. Edgar was the second of three children, born on January 19, 1809. He had an older brother named William and a younger sister named Rosalie. He didn’t get to know his parents very well, because they died when he was only three years old. Wanting to take in a child, John and Frances Allen decided to take him in and raise him as their own. While under the Allens’ roof, he discovered a love for poetry and writing. He immediately took a liking to the works of Lord Byron, a famous British poet, who then became his childhood hero. By the time Poe had turned thirteen, John Allen had grown sick of his writings.
