The Myers-Biggs Personality Type Indicator is known as one of the world’s most popular personality type assessments. The Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator is a self-inventory designed to identify a person 's personality type, strengths, and preferences (psycology.about.com). This inventory of personality types is used as tool by those who seek to distinguish and understand their unique personalities, including their strengths, weakness, etc.
The results of my Myers-Briggs Type indicator test described me as an ISFJ. An ISFJ stands for Introvert, Sensing, Feeling, and Judging. As someone who is an introvert, I am most comfortable in low-key environments, unlike extraverts who enjoy highly stimulated crowds and interactions. ISFJ’s are known as the “Protectors” or “Defenders”; we tend to place the needs of others’ over our own. ISFJs are very compassionate, and sensitive to people’s feelings and desires. We are highly observant and aware of our own feelings as well as others’, however we usually keep our emotions locked up inside rather than express them freely.
The learning assessment I took was “What is your learning style” by Edutopia. After taking this assessment, I scored highest under Naturalistic, Intrapersonal, and Interpersonal, with all three being well over 60 percent. As much as I enjoy being one with Nature and our natural environment, I do not see myself as a Naturalistic learner. After reading the descriptions for Intrapersonal and Interpersonal, I would agree with both of these learning styles. Interpersonal is described as being about social interaction and understanding peoples’ motives, emotions, perspectives, and moods (edutopia.org). ...ss of which environment is best for your unique study habits. As a student, I know which learning style will be most advantageous and which environment is most conducive to studying. I have a strong intrapersonal and interpersonal learning style; I learn best when I am either able to interact with individuals and engage in an active-learning environment or when I study alone in a comfortable yet quiet environment (edutopia.org). Acquiring this information about myself as a learner will not only help me succeed as a student, but also as a professional. I understand my abilities and limitations and can use this information to my advantage. I know that I am someone who is naturally introverted, so working with large groups can be a little daunting; however knowing my weakness allows me to identify which areas need improvement, thus becoming a valuable asset to a team.
