During the first few days of my first semester of college, I felt overwhelmed to the point where I kept asking myself, “What am I still doing here?” However, my views on my journey in college have developed positively. My EDUC 1300 class has taught me many tips to becoming a successful student, and now I am motivated to accomplish my goals in the future. I found that my strengths are to be open minded, have hope, and be positive. Throughout the years that I have been in school, studying and prioritizing have never been something I was good at. Now that I am somewhat accustomed to the college environment, I have begun to study at least one hour per day or in between my free time. A high school teacher prepares the students for college or life in general. A teacher works the normal school hours of eight to nine. On the other hand, some may work evenings or weekends in order to prepare lesson plans, activities, or grade papers. The job outlook for a teacher is expected to grow six percent in a decade, which is slower than other occupations. The employment growth for public high school teachers depend on local and state government budgets. Meaning, if the budget number decreases, so will the employment growth of teachers. To pay for a two-bedroom apartment, the cost will be $937. After having a place to live, I will of course have to pay for the utilities of the apartment which will take away about $436. For clothes, miscellaneous things, health care, entertainment, and food, my spending add up to $1,918. Monthly, I would spend $4,648. The cost of living in Houston compared to San Antonio, Texas is $51,270. In San Antonio, the cost of groceries is two percent less than what someone would expect to buy in a grocery store in Houston. On the other hand, the housing is twenty-nine percent less that that of Houston The health care is actually five percent more in San Antonio. Utilities such as gas, water, and etc. is twelve percent less. In conclusion, the cost of living in San Antonio is a little bit cheaper than living in Houston. The cost is more than what I initially thought. With my median salary of about $55,050, it will be hard, as I have pretty expensive taste, but I believe I will be able to make it. As I gain more experience in my career and work as hard as I can, I will be able to get more employment
