My Unforgettable Team
The summer sun rose slowly, as I peered out my bedroom window. The wind blowing inside my room was warm and inviting. Upon waking up to a beautiful day, I thought, “Today is going to be an extraordinary day”. I was throwing my clothes left to right until two mountains form on my floor. I sorted my clothes and packed for our long journey to Orlando, Fl. After getting dressed, I rushing out to the car. I was heading to my first National cheerleading competition. This trip to Disney World be one of my unforgettable memories.
My family gathered everything needed for the trip and packed it in our van. We were meeting the team at the local grocery store. In order to be on time, we had to leave around four o’clock in the morning. The Charter Bus was waiting for the team to arrive to start our journey. Finally, the bus was moving and we were on our way for our long 12 hour trip. The coaches made sure we had plenty to keep us occupied. While we were traveling we did games, movies, singing, and an occasional nap. We had to stop every couple hours at a rest sto...
One summer morning, I woke up excited. My friends and I were going to Hershey Park. I’ve been busy this summer, so this is the first time I was able to go. Hershey Park is a big amusement park with big roller coasters and a big water park. The Fahrenheit is my favorite ride there. I woke up, took a shower, got dressed, ate breakfast, and waited for them to pick me up at my house. While I sat on my couch, I had my bag with a towel and a bathing suit for the water park and I could put my phone there. I was ready to go.
I woke up before dawn on a Saturday. I almost grumbled about the early hour when I remembered why I was up so early, Stephanie’s funeral. “Pull it together,” I thought to myself as I almost started crying. This was going to be a difficult day. My older sister, Sarah, and I pulled on our nice dresses and were out of the house by eight fifteen. We now had a long drive to our uncle’s house in Atlanta.
The first day we were there we just hung out at my aunt’s house and relaxed after the seventeen hour drive there. The second day my grandma and I went to the beach, laid out in the sun, and got tan. The water was still pretty cold at the time we went, so we didn’t go swimming at all, nevertheless we still enjoyed our time on the beach. Although I enjoyed everyday I was in Florida, Wednesday
When the day came to leave I was woken at the crack of dawn. I was keen to get to Blackpool as swiftly as possible, not only for the football that was ahead of us but also for the famous Pleasure Beach. The coach picked us up at around 8 am and in we crammed into an already full coach. The journey down was full of laughter and friendly joking from the parents. That day, it was particularly hot and inside the coach a number of people were becoming uncomfortable. I was unaffected by the warmth inside the coach, with my earphones in I relaxed and paid more attention to the vast countryside we were passing through. The vivid scenery blew me away, with colossal hills to calm rivers that we met on the journey.
The night before leaving I couldn't sleep. When I woke up that morning it was a beautiful spring day. The sun was shining brightly, and the clouds in the sky looked like giant marshmallows. I was so excited because this was my first time going on a vacation. I had already put my suitcases and bags in my car the night before. After I said my goodbyes to my family, I was on my way. I met with Lisa a...
It was an eventful summer, or you could say a summer with one major event. July sixteenth in particular was that one day that stood out bolder than the rest. It has been over a decade since the time I started investing my summers with sports practices and games. Each year, I took it up a notch. I didn’t really know how I felt about sports. When I was younger, I continually nurtured my skills for a future I didn't even see. Much like how I used to always read. The vocabulary, grammar, and structure I gained knowledge from reading didn't seem to matter back then. Until sixth grade, I really didn’t have a spark that motivated me to do anything. I believe the exact phrase my friend Emily said was, “I will teepee your house every single night until you decide to try out for Citadel.” This Citadel travel soccer team is what gave me better sense of who I was.
While traveling to Wisconsin,I had chosen to write down what I might see when I got there.Writing about a place I had never seen before wasn’t hard, because all I had to do was use my imagination.I had imagined sitting in front of a breath-taking sunset. The cool air felt like cool a ocean breeze, the amazing view;had looked like a scene from a movie.Every image in my head, I wrote down hoping I would see it when we got there.
It all started the other morning as Maddie, Gracie, and I climbed into my car. It was a warm Saturday morning as the sun beat down on us. It’s our last summer vacation before our senior year. We were headed to Montana to pick up our friend Mitch and we were all going to take a road trip through multiple states
The alarm rang at 5.00 am, which made me jump out of my bed, springing off the balls of my feet and swinging my hands in the air for the first time out of excitement. “Time to go to Hershey Park”, cried my raring brother with an avidity. Later, we prepared ourselves for a long and elating journey to Pennsylvania. My heart started throbbing as if it’s going to leap out of my chest when I thought about going to a theme park after a long time. Thrilling sensation pierced in me as we were close to Pennsylvania. My first time visit to Pennsylvania made me adore the place as it was serene and tranquil infused with dense and hastily growing bushes and craggy mountains. The sky was Carolina blue spotted with patches of cirrus clouds. As we were
My heart was filled with so much joy as the day approached for us to head to Miami, Florida for our annual family reunion. We all got up around 4:00 a.m. that night to head out. Many of my family from all over Georgia planned to trail behind one another to enjoy the journey. Some from Thomasville, some from Cairo and some from Atlanta. Everyone was so overjoyed, you could tell by the smiles on their faces and the laughs they let out. As we traveled the bright and bumpy roads I watched all of the pretty palm trees, which is how I know we were getting close. Florida was full of palm trees and everyone that knows Florida know that everywhere in Florida is filled with palm trees. We traveled through so many different, beautiful cities. We traveled through Naples, West
But this essay and my most amazing day is concerning the Relay of 2009. That year, the number of survivors participating in our Relay had risen from 46 in 2006, to 95 in 2010. So, in a short time, I had helped with doubling the survivors attending. On this amazing day, I had prepared the plaque and the flowers for the nominee. I had the nomination ready. As I stepped on the stage, the chair of Relay took my microphone; she told me there had been a last-minute change. She started reading the nomination. I was completely surprised. It was my life story she was reading. I was overwhelmed that the award was coming to me. I started crying with joy. My family was watching also and they started crying with me. I couldn’t believe that Relay wished to honor me with this award. I floated from the stage to the start of the survivor lap. When I completed the lap, I asked my family to join me. I shared the flowers with them and we all cried together. For the rest of the Relay, the time flew by. I smiled so much my face hurt. I was hugged and hugged by so many people and I felt like I was walking on
I awoke to the sun piercing through the screen of my tent while stretching my arms out wide to nudge my friend Alicia to wake up. “Finally!” I said to Alicia, the countdown is over. As I unzip the screen door and we climb out of our tent, I’m embraced with the aroma of campfire burritos that Alicia’s mom Nancy was preparing for us on her gargantuan skillet. While we wait for our breakfast to be finished, me and Alicia, as we do every morning, head to the front convenient store for our morning french vanilla cappuccino. On our walk back to the campsite we always take a short stroll along the lake shore to admire the incandescent sun as it shines over the gleaming dark blue water. This has become a tradition that we do every morning together
I experienced excitement and nervousness simultaneously as I approached the building where I would spend the majority of the next three weeks at a camp run by the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. The campus at CU Boulder was incredibly beautiful that summer day, with lush green grass and tall, stately buildings. There were many tall trees providing shade from the summer heat, and there were people laughing or resting or reading on the campus. At the steps of the building where all the theatre rooms were, I was introduced to my camp directors and given a t-shirt. I was fourteen at the time, and it was my first time attending a camp like this.

While on the road my friend’s sister and I got to know each other very well. We talked about how we were doing in school, and many other things. As time went by we could see the mountains getting closer and closer to us. We could not wait to climb El Capitan. When we finally arrived, we unpacked and got ready to hike El Capitan. On the way up the hike we had a great time because as we hiked up we talked about how cool it was going to be up there on top of the world.
