My topic addresses birth control. Birth control is widely practiced with couples to enjoy sexual intimacy without feeling the risk of pregnancy which could potentially lead to making unfavorable decisions about abortion and adoption.. There are different methods for birth control such as abstinence, medications, birth control sponges, IUD, sterilization, and condoms. Contraceptives are prescribed by doctors in clinics and local community health departments that support family planning. Some are non-based prescriptions such as condoms which are obtained over the counter. Birth control offers certain gynecological health benefits such as control of sexual transmitted diseases (STDs), abnormal uterine cramping, and irregular menstrual bleeding. …show more content…

Women consuming birth control pills for more than a year are at less risk of endometrial cancer and an intake of pills for than three months reduces the risk for ovarian cancer. There is a decreased risk of iron deficiency anemia, which helps with the amount of blood flow during the menstrual cycle to and can cause short and light or even in some cases,to not have one. For example, Provera is an oral contraceptive that aids in abnormal uterine bleeding and it helps to restore normal menstrual periods in women who have stopped having them for several months (amenorrhea). Additionally, other oral contraceptives offer similar benefit of preventing hormonal fluctuations that are responsible for bleeding, cramping, headaches and other discomforts associated with getting your period. A perfect example to emphasize birth control more clearly are exposed through reality shows such as 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom. These shows reveal troublesome experiences between pregnant girls and the people close to them. It portrays the young parents emotional struggle with being pregnant and life changing decisions to raise a newborn and/or child. You get to see the emotional turmoil and social conflicts with their family, friends, and impact in school. In one episode of Teen Mom, Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra had learned Catelynn was pregnant and knew they wouldn 't be able to care for the child, the only option was an adoption because abortion wasn’t in their favor. After the adoption, they were apparently regretful but favored what was best for the child. Deontological ethics, an ethical theory by Immanuel Kant presents my example better with loving unconditional. With good will in their hearts, the duty of the young couple regardless of the end goal would not be to keep the child. As a result, these reality shows offer visual content that allows one to explore deeper into social and emotional consequences of teen pregnancy and thereby serve to offer more educational support to prevent unwanted
