This reflective report presents the important elements that I have encountered over the course of my studies at Brighton while undertaking my MSc in Public Service degree. Together with the important elements, the reflective report describes the experiences I have gone through as a student and further provides an evaluation of the experiences. Most importantly, it is apt to indicate that most of the knowledge and skills acquired in the course has been a result of interactions with my environment.

First, the idea of working in teams as a group is a new experience that I had never encountered and it has helped me achieve different experiences throughout the course. The fact that each group had specific goals to achieve highlighted the vital role of teamwork towards achieving different goals within an organisational and individual context. Secondly, I have learnt to appreciate the value of diversity when working in groups especially in relationship to the courses that an individual team member studied. As a student undertaking a public service management course, I have gained from the diversity of other group members undertaking human resource management, international management, and general management courses. While the mix appeared strange at the beginning, I must say that interacting with this diverse group of students has helped me gain significant knowledge in management and leadership since each course has its unique characteristics and a combination of the characteristics provides a unique experience that is rich in knowledge and skills needed for real life practice. Besides this experience, I have tremendously improved my communication skills with exposure to different cultures further helping me to improve these
Team A concluded that Bruce Tuckman’s 1965 Team Development Model provides one of the best descriptions of group dynamics. It represents the typical group stages experienced by Team A members as they have participated on University of Phoenix teams. It also describes the typical evolution described by Team A members from their team activities at work and social activities. While the group dynamics evolve, changes also take place within the individuals who participate on teams. This is most clearly observed in University of Phoenix teams where individual team members only share a personal goal of achieving a degree. They are not employed by the same company, members of a particular political or social organization, or share other ties. They come from varied backgrounds, countries, and socioeconomic experiences. When forced by the University to work as a team, the members evolve through a predictable process that mimics Tuckman’s Model.
My sixteen week class in English 111. I was really nervous about this class. Because English has never been my strong point. This class has hard, but fun all at the same time. I learn a lot from this class. Meanwhile,the first day of class you handed a paper with a question on it. “The first thing I want to say to you who are students is that you must not think of being here to receive an education; instead, you will do much better to think of being here to claim one.” Even though putting my all in what I have learned, claiming my education with hard work because using the skills of the meal plan, as we write to different audiences and learning to be a Critically thinker as I start becoming a critically-Literate Citizenship.
Through this experience I have learned many new things about myself. I have learned in detail who I am as a learner, a teacher and as a participant in my community. Through the use of the material addressed in modules two, six and eight, I am able to conduct a critical analysis of myself and what I have learned in the course that is relevant to my academic and professional career.
During the early years, children go through crucial development stages, and continuous, quality early childhood education can have a lasting, valuable effect on the overall development of children. High-quality early childhood development programs that offer developmentally adequate curricula, allow children to formulate specified cognitive skills at the suitable age. Developmentally adequate curricula assist in the development of cognitive skills which help them acquire new skills and knowledge. Preschool provides children the opportunities to take part in activities they wouldn’t typically do at home such as arts and crafts, science activities, sand and water play and music and movement. These activities can enhance children's’ lives, increase their development and supply them with the tools they need for the future.
The purpose of creating teams is to solve a problem or issue through the use of diverse ideas and solutions. There are many times in life, whether at work or at school that one will encounter a diverse mix of personalities. Workplace diversity is everywhere, from the small corner business to the fortune 500 company, and is one of the most important challenges facing companies today. This mix of diverse personalities, gender, race, experience, and culture is what makes a team successful. This is an example of a heterogeneous team. On the other hand, a team with the same make-up, or homogeneous, has limitations on creativity, viewpoints and ideas. This paper will look at cultural diversity and demographic characteristics, specifically age, gender, expertise/ experience and how each plays an integral part in the construction of a high performance team.
In my visual I did specific artistic styles to reflect the quote, for what it means for me. I did a globe as the overall idea because this quote mainly meant for me was moving, so I showed it through a globe. Also this relates to anyone who has moved from another country to find a better home for their family, whether it was to Canada or anywhere else in the world because at the end we are given better opportunities to a better life. For the colours, I did the water dark blue to show the idea of moving is hard because we leaving our loved ones and our home behind, but I did the countries in light green to show that though we a moving away from our homes, we are building better ones wherever we choose to move. A reflection log is, in essence, a personalised learning resource. This reflection log will showcase the thinking and learning skills I have developed from module (IS6136 - Professional Practice Skills), which is underpinned by a peer learning system. As part of this peer system, I was encouraged to discuss and share my thoughts, as well as to develop my reflection log in a collaborative way. The reflection log helped me to extend and further my understanding of the material presented. Section 2.0 of this log will discuss five major takeaways from this module, in light of the learning expectation set by the lecturer. Section 3.0 will conclude the reflection log.
Reflection within early year’s settings and schools allows for the practitioner to think about the work that is being completed either whilst doing it or after it has occurred, the reflection allows for seeing how the work has gone or whether it needs to be changed for future practice. Schön is a key writer about reflection and illustrates the differences between reflection in action, reflection on action and reflection whilst completing the task. The above critical skills help all practitioners to develop understanding as they hugely impact on others lives, if this skill is not engaged in then practice could be effected (Leeson, 2004).
In a team-oriented setting, everyone contributes to how well the group succeeds overall. You work with fellow members of the group to complete the work that needs to be done. Having the right people in the correct roles is an important factor in measuring the success of a team, where you are united with the other members to complete the main goals. Every group is made up of definite strengths and weaknesses. Our team's 3-5 major strengths necessary to work accordingly consist of Informer, Summarizer, Orienter, Piggy-Backer, and Encourager. One of our strengths as a team is that we get input from everyone involved. Every member of our team is a leader in some way. Part of being a good leader is knowing how important it is to receive the best ideas from each member of their team. We attend group meetings where we discuss any challenges, issues, and problems. At these meetings, we often exchange ideas or brainstorm new ones with each other and come up with the best and most creative team solutions as potential answers to those perceived problems.
After a review of my performance in the assigned group, I have learned a great deal about myself and behavior in the team-setting situation. This is not the first experience in a team-setting. Previous team setting experiences were conducted in sporting and recreational environments rather than academics. While the setting and the environments were indeed different, there were many commonalities and correlations between the team settings I previously experiences and the current academic team-setting experience for this academic course project.

This lesson is designed to review and reinforce a few important concepts about plants (e.g. Needs, parts, sequence of planting) and to also guide the students through applying a few scientific inquiry (e.g. Making observations, experimentation, discussion, reflection, reporting results etc.). The students have previously planted corn and bean seeds and today’s lesson has provided the students a chance to see the results of the planted corn and bean seeds. Additionally, seeds have been planted under and growing under the following conditions: without water, and without soil. Realizing that a group can become a high performance team is important. Accomplishing this goal is invaluable, advantageous and profitable. Once able to operate from a group to the high performing team is a great step into preparation into the big business world. Leaders and members must also realize not only how to accomplish this but that some problems will and can arise from different demographic characteristics and cultural diversity. That is if one is in such a group, which the probability would be quite high.
I will fund my exhibit through donations and sales. I would reach out to the community, explain my exhibit and ask for donations, but I would primarily generate revenue through selling items related to the exhibit like prints of the works being shown, creative posters, key chains, t-shirts and other mementos. Additionally, I would have bake sales and fairs and other activities of a similar nature.
