It was the morning of July 15, 2015 I had just arrived to work around 7:00 A.M. I started my day the same way I do any other day, made myself a cup of coffee, grabbed a donut from the kitchen, and sat at my station. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary that day, other than the fact that I didn’t get the normal daily “Good morning” text message, so everything seemed fine. I remember sitting in my chair thinking about my best friend, Mason, and how much I missed him. I had talked to him the night before while he was about to go out with some friends, and I was so upset with him that I hung the phone up on him and didn’t tell him goodnight or anything. I started working only to feel my phone buzz, and when I opened those text messages. Little did I know that my whole life would change forever.
One text after another, the text messages from close friends appeared on my phone, which was very unusual to happen, especially at so early in the morning. The first text I received that day was from my friend, Marco Hernandez, he told me that there was something wrong with Mason. He instructed me t...

Graduation Speech: Life is a Blank Canvas

- My father always told me that my life is a blank canvas waiting for me to paint my future upon it. As I stand here before my fellow classmates, cherished friends and beloved teachers, I see more than just a graduating class, I see a group of artists waiting to exhibit their art to the world. See, the beauty of my father's analogy lies in the fact that we have all been given the right to choose our own destiny, essentially to paint whatever we want on our canvases of life. Our parents, teachers and friends have taught us all the techniques we need to embrace a bright and beautiful future, and now with this diploma, we stand alone with a paintbrush, palette and a world waiting our arrival....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech: Life's Defining Moments

- I was watching a re-run of the "Dr. Phil" show the other day, and he was offering advice to someone who had an anger problem. Dr. Phil asked him to recall the top 10 defining moments in his life, which is where the secret to his anger problem was supposed to lie. So, I began thinking about what are the top ten defining moments in my life. The birth of my daughter was the first thing that came to my mind. She made me a mother, along with a 24-hour worrier and an insomniac. As I began to dwell more on the topic I realized that going to college has not only been one of my defining moments, it has made me who I am....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech : Life After Work

- Life after Work Do you ever wonder what life after work feels like. Let me take you into a journey of the lives of four people that I had the pleasure of interviewing. These four people share their life of life after work, what made them retire earlier than the retirement age of 75, what the pros and cons are, how they handle living expenses, and how they live their daily lives. Furthermore, I became very intrigued at what I found. At the beginning, my research became about the retirement gap of the rich and poor....   [tags: Retirement, Pension, Ageing, Retirement community]

Graduation Speech : Life Without Music

- Life without music is a life that I never want to live. Since I was in the 6th grade, I have made the deepest connections through song. Music may be distracting from other studies, but on the other hand, has made a better and more understanding person, has given me a better perspective of everyone else 's lives, along with my own, allowed me to connect with my peers, and was always an effective way to express my feelings without hurting someone else or myself. Skipping other classes is just one example of how music was distracting from other studies....   [tags: High school, Music, Thought, Choirs]

Graduation Speech : Life After College

- Life after college Congratulations to the Class of 2010 getting ready to walk across the stage and receive their hard earned degree for the past years, but for majority of them they are leaving with debt. What a wonderful graduation gift and a lifetime reminder that you have to pay back money you borrowed in school. Graduation Speech: The Important Things in Life

- Well, I am supposed to give a speech, so sit back and enjoy the ride, hopefully it will not be too bumpy. I am sure all of us are really excited by now. You're probably thinking, "Yeah, we are finally out of here. We've survived all four years. It's time to party and move on in life." Yet, we are losing a great deal. We'll lose a lot of great teachers, we are giving up this small caring community, and in return we are moving to larger schools -- where we will be known by number rather than name....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech: Live Life to the Fullest

- I would like to begin this evening by welcoming all of my classmates, staff, parents and guardians, the school board and superintendent, friends, and relatives to the commencement of the class of 2012. Commencement is a critical juncture in our lives; it is a momentous occasion where we believe we are about to start anew. However, graduation is the bittersweet moment where the forces of past and future are simultaneously acting on us. Consequently, the past is not dead. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, suggests that our past experiences will be with us forever as he states, " [we] are a part of all that [we] have met; yet all experience is an arch where through gleams that untraveled world." That is w...   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech: The Beginning of Your Life

- Parents, teachers, families and friends, welcome and thank you for joining us tonight at the County High School graduation ceremony for the Class of 2012. Graduation is a time to look fondly upon memories which have been made over the past three years. I am sure all of us have our own memories which we hold close to our hearts and make us grin when we think of them. Events which become very vivid in my mind are football and basketball games, dances, pep assemblies, at least the ones from our sophomore and junior years, and especially time spent with a group of friends just doing whatever....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech: Always Look On The Bright Side of Life

- I have been chosen today to come before you and give some words of encouragement to the graduating class because I am seen as an example of one who has succeeded in school. And yet, I am by no means the only person in our class who has succeeded. Woody Allen once said, “Success is 80 percent showing up” and since all of you have shown up here today and at school for the last 12 years, you all are most of the way there. So what makes up the remaining 20 percent. Not getting all As on your tests, or going to state or winning first prize in a contest....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]
